I like the design of Ral much more than Dack. But I don't know what themes are present.

Article Cube Design - Tri-color Cards

Thanks for the thread Onderzeeboot. I think it's been a while since an idea of mine has made it into article form without gracing the forums first.

I'm back in Texas (and America) for the first time in many years and it's a strong dose of reverse culture shock. And other issues. Maybe I'll blog about it when I get back.

I'm on my phone but don't we have a page on this in cube academy? Can someone posted the link? Or maybe Dom wrote it and I nevr posted it

General One Size does not Fit All

I think games, cubes or otherwise, need to be designed from the ground up with player count in mind. One of the challenges is that the drafting method, passing packs of 15, doesn't hold up well with fewer players and there's no easy remedy. The amount of design space you can cover also changes...

It's uh, more the second and kind of the opposite of the first. And I propose an idea I personally think is pretty cool that I am sure hasn't appeared elsewhere. It's an idea that makes me want to design a new cube, and hopefully it appeals to others.

It was more like, I started to write an introduction about why I wasn't going to review tri-color cards and that morphed into its own thing.

I sat down to write a set review and it became an entirely different article. Oops.

    General The Constructed thread

What fractions are we talking here? Say you have 20 lands left in a 50-card deck. 20 / 50 = 40% 19 / 49 = 38.78% So more than a percentage difference. Then that compounds over multiple draw steps. I mean, it's not irrelevant.

Just make it in Cube Talk, you can start your own thread if you want. General is for non-Magic shit.

    Card/Deck Sultai Synergy

I can see these cards working in a pushed environment. I think everybody cut Bonehoard from their vanilla cubes.

The card is inelegant as fuck. I think that's the complaint. There's no cohesion between its parts, which makes the Prowess part feel very shoe-horned.

I don't know how much this helps, but I would also focus on "what works well with the graveyard" but "what creates fun decisions with the graveyard". I really like the way Tarmogoyf / Deathrite / Snapcaster / Scavenging Ooze / Liliana interact in ways that are interactive and force you to think...

I just want to say thanks to everyone who did disable adblock. These ads are covering our costs now, so RipLab should stay afloat in the black for the foreseeable future.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

If your ideal scenario is card parity while dealing 4 damage to target player and possibly fogging an attack, it's okay, but not a great tempo play. Truth be told I haven't played with the Sphinx much, so maybe I'm spouting bullshit. It's been on my "to test" list for a while.

    Card/Deck +1/+1 Counters

Cards like Tangle Wire and Armageddon are interesting in that they sometimes produce really great memorable games, and sometimes are really really stupid.
