I gotta say, with this and Generator Servant and maybe others, it feels like Wizards is high on these "delayed Dark Ritual on a stick" cards lately, not that I'm complaining.
Okay, I knew Gifts was a card for a long time but didn't really "get" it. Choosing fewer than four cards has to be one of the jankiest, gameiest competitive applications of a card I've seen. The cards they choose go to the graveyard? That design is so inelegant in my opinion.
Let's face it peeps, Fact or Fiction is super spikey and often not very fun to be on the other side of if you're not super familiar with the format / deck you're up against. "Ughhhh... analysis paralysis... so this is how I'm going to lose this game."
Blowing up treespeaker in response to the level up activation is one of the most satisfying plays. Sometimes I hold up mana to represent a kill spell just so they won't activate him.
Wait, is it not just five mana on turn 4? T3: morph face down, T4: morph for {2}, netting {G}{U}{R} + two untapped lands. Am I missing something? Oh, you tap it after you morph. I see.... interesting design indeed.
