Soul Reap and Tragic Slip are currently my favorite black removal spells. Efficient answers with some play to them.

    The Book Thread

It's not the objectively highest quality book out there, but I had fun reading it (and the sequel, haven't gotten around to the third). Mostly I read it because a girl I was into at the time recommended it. This is her legacy.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I wonder how the removal of 187s in favor of guys who need to attack affects the power of black control. Actually, I don't wonder. I just want to point out what's happening here, not that there's anything wrong. But I would expect this to have no small impact on set balance.

It'd be really cool if there were more lifegain in black. Is there a way to do a PW that is effectively that 4CMC sac spell with Rebound as a minus? Or is that too close to 3CMC Liliana.

Sometimes a tournament gets to heads up, you go all in and think you flop the nuts. But there are still two more cards to come. :(

Some sort of Transmute of -X tutor effect on a PW might be fun.

General Where did you start with cube?

Hey Sam, thanks for tuning in. I don't know if I have too much to add here, I've been at the cubing thing for a lot less time than some of the others around here. I started with the usual resources, and quickly gravitated to people who were doing things a bit off-beat. Thea Steele had...

The modes are different enough that it'd be more grokable as a split card. {2}{U/R}{B} // {B}{B}{B}{B} // :3::b: Okay, maybe not, but it took a couple re-reads to really get what was going on, and even then it's not that intuitive.

I tried it a long while ago, which didn't make me eager to go back. Meanwhile Poker interfaces haven't really changed in the 4 years since I last played, but mostly because they were good back then already.

General Riptidelab mostly-custom cube attempt #1

I agree with the idea of having strong design goals, but I also think some of these (e.g. aggro-flashback) will flesh out later. There's a lot that will be unknown for a while.

I like your arguments, but perhaps not your examples. The key thing with Bookmark is that it does not cost a card. The only cost is mana. A cheap, tutorable edict that costs no card is a very dangerous thing. There are potential ways to offset it, e.g. making a high cost on either end, and...

Scry isn't too synergistic with fetching though. E.g. Ponder + Fetchlands = fun times, Preordain + Fetchlands = meh.

General Need Help with the Design Skeleton of a Cube.

Keep in mind that if you are running a retail draft power-level cube that you don't necessarily need fetches. I sing the praises of fetches all day, but it's not as important in those environments that decks be able to access 3 colors of mana on T1, since games play out at a slower pace. E.g. in...

Yeah, I could see there being like, one Panglacial card in a set, but more than that is overkill.

    Sets [M15] Magic 2015 Spoilers

It's kind of interesting. Usually Control beats Midrange but loses to Aggro, but Jace is kind of built with the opposite in mind.

Yeah, I bumped up RTR Jace to main cube action.
