Onderzeeboot
Ecstatic Orb
I've been drafting Commander 2014 / Planechase 2 / Commander 2013 today (with Forge), and I wish it was a retail format. It's an absolute hoot to play (even though the occasional Sol Ring is super overpowered)

Colorless Mythic Cycle basically confirmed. 3 Eldrazi, 1 Karn, 1 Wurmcoil.
This set is expensive for a set that won't even have goyf. I foresee a possible unbanning & reprinting of everyone's favorite mindsculptor...but that's just baseless speculation.
The Modern Masters set idea is a good one, but the extremely limited printing combined with higher base price pulls the product out of the range of the people who need it most, which seems counter-productive for the set's goals. The rich get richer etc.
Eh, I feel like the people complaining about the pack price are barking up the wrong tree. Other than on release day, you couldn't find Modern Masters packs anywhere for the MSRP of $6 a pop. Within a week or two, retailers were selling them for $10, and often more, so they're just reflecting reality now by telling you that they're $10.
If they could loosen the reins on the print run this time around, though, that would help with both pack prices and fulfilling the supply bottleneck for the Modern card pool.
Maybe I should de-foil my cube. I'd have a lot less incentive to keep pursuing cards like this and being disappointed if I could regularly get versions of cards I wanted, rather than having to participate in the momentous undertaking that is a 2 sets of foil fetchlands and shocklands each. I dunno. I like things being nice and uniform, but I think there's a few cases where FTV foils look better or are cheaper than their regular counterparts.
Meanwhile over here, all of my Onslaught fetches are proxies! The only foil I used to run was a Torch Fiend that a guy donated to my cube, but I cut that bugger a while ago.
I will say that I enjoy the look and feel of a sweet tricked-out cube, but personally I just grab the cheapest non-ugly version of every card that I can find. I also have a theory that the more people foil out their cubes, the more reluctant they are to swap out those cards that they've invested so much time and effort into hunting down. In turn, this may be what leads to people being unusually defensive about particular card choices on other forums, sometimes ignoring all reason to include cards that are clearly no longer worth their salt. Sticking with cheap, regular versions of cards means I feel no guilt or regret whatsoever when I axe any so-called 'staple'.
it's beautiful eric! No, I do run white-bordered Volcanic Hammer. It's one of the ugliest cards in my cube, but it's also one of the things my cube is known for at this point. So I might as well leave that talking point as it is - it's getting attention!

Someone just pointed out that I am running the ugliest Duress there is. I hadn't even thought about it.
It's white bordered I don't know if you can tell..
... cross block.
