Last year, I participated in this contest with my
Maelstrom Mania cube, featuring 30 copies of
Invasion of Alara. It was my belief that most contestants would choose sensible, low-curve cards with an eye toward elegance in gameplay, and I decided to do the opposite, largely as a joke (but also to see if it would work).
Two days before the deadline for the competition, I suddenly had another idea for such a cube, which I actually thought was about a hundred times better, and still satisfied my desire to have "a weird one." But I didn't have the time to actually work on it before the contest wrapped up.
This idea has haunted me for almost a year, and yesterday, in a fit of hyperfocus, I built it over the course of several hours.
