What if you had permanents that were creatures unless your devotion to X is high enough, in which case they are walkers instead..like bizarro gods... the rules are pretty nasty... especially the bit where the creatures kinda have to etb with loyalty counters....

Ooh! or an ability word... like: "Ignite-- Whenever TRIGGER, Transform ~ and put X loyalty counters on it" ... and the back is a Plansewalker

I really like that... it would allow you to mechanically represent the story of how some dude ignited their spark... there are some great, flavorful triggers out there, like, "another creature you control dies" or "~ dies" or "a creature dealt damage this turn by ~ dies"...
Even wackier stuff like "a creature with power 5 or greater enters the battlefield"...

Also yours for free '2 damage to a creature, 3 damage to a planeswalker, or 4 damage to a player'. Uncostable due to its variance in effect and utterly dependent on there being planeswalkers semi-commonly in the environment, but the idea's there.

I think If the gruul soulbond guy were real, we would all just call him care bear :)

By the way, these are all sweet cards, I particularly like gruulbeast. I actually run 2 of a card sort of like stone quarry, it's

etb tapped,
when it enters the battlefield, scry 2
T: add {1} to your mana pool.
{1}T: add 1 mana of any color to your mana pool. ~ deals one damage to you.

It's been fine, usually a mid pack pick, played in most fastish decks with good mana, and some slow decks with not so great mana :p

That just seems wrong. Both in the sense that it's breaking the color pie in about a 1000 ways for no good reason other than the fact that you're trying to justify black getting an effect it shouldn't get, and in the sense that it's severely undercosted.

I want a cycle of lands with 1 basic land type. And I have basically no idea. I imagine they should either etb tapped or shock you. Maybe give. you the choice.

Ideas:
A cycle of 5 Fetchable Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth variants:

Supurborg
Land - Swamp
Other lands you control have T, pay 1 life: add B to your mana pool.
