Yeah apparently... I am not a great fan of this rule change. It helps the attacker in any case, so I guess they did it to have faster games in Limited with everybody attacking. I don't know if I am a big fan of that, even though I love drafting low-to-the-ground aggressive decks.
(P.S.: Bring back damage on the stack, you cowards!)
I actually think the new damage rules sound way more straight forward and intuitive, I welcome it. Sure you now might have to device some new tactics but, whatever. The streamlining seems worth it.
I agree. The lineup system is familiar by now, but I thought it was a weird change when it came out all those years ago.
And yes, I still like damage on the stack. It's bias based on things I enjoyed played back in the day.

I really feel for you guys. For many of you this game is your passion and hobby. Seeing it destroyed like this is beyond words. Fucking Spongebob cards in tournaments. It's downright vandalism, Magic is the second most influential game ever made and it has turned to this.
It won't even work long-term. One needs to be completely deranged to believe that a mostly adult audience will continue to pay hundreds of euros to play a game with Spongebob in it. I expect the game to take the route of so many other overmilked properies: Apparent growth and sudden collapse. And, even then, they won't walk it back.

I'm fine with the damage assignment change.
It's not often you ever even interact with group blocking, and either way someone can get blown out by giant growth. Might as well make the actual interacting with it easy.
Hell this might even make the reminder text for banding easier

Bristly Bill sidegrade: trample, different trigger, and no activated ability. Honestly some people just saw those first 3 words and just pitched the cactus man so hard off stage left it reminds you of a muppets movie.

Couldn’t agree more. The same started happening with Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021 with ‘visitors’ from other movies that previously weren’t suppose to be in this IP.

Dungeons & Dragons. To give just one example: Hit points, as they exist in every single game today, come from Dungeons and Dragons.
Of course, I'm talking about designer games here, traditional games (Chess, Go, Tarot, etc.) would probably be on top, but their influence is hard to measure.

Universes Beyond going through Standard is good news for all non-Standard format because it means fewer pushed cards = fewer freak looking cards in old formats.

The power level on all of them is more fair than what my environment normally would support but....I'm going to see what I can do here to make some of them work.

The designs are pretty cool but what's up with the art in jumpstart? In previous versions only reprints got the anime treatment if I remember correctly. Will we get UW versions of these ?

Core sets used to be considered the boring sets with reprints and uninteresting-tried and-tested-a-thousand-times themes, now with every new set having its own set of headache-inducing-shit-to-keep-track-of, I often find myself browing the core set 19/20/21 cards when looking for cards to put into my cube (goblin Wizardry, Rousing Read being among my favorites), and this jumpstart thing is looking to be even better
I hope to see more "core" sets and Dominaria (the only plain even hasbro respects enough not to shit on with a mockery/hat/minigame/trope set, if I remember correctly) and I firmly believe they can use the already in-game mechanics to make new sets for 10 years straight (each of those 60 sets unique both in terms of flavor and themes/gameplay) without running out of design space
