Good guess, but not it! Pack Rat saw a lot of play in Standard once Innistrad rotated out, though. This card was basically unplayable anywhere other than Draft.

You're on the right track, but not 100% there yet.

I'll give another hint since this one seems to be stumping everyone.

1: This is a card you would put into Phenax, God of Deception decks.
2: This is a card you could play with Monastery Swiftspear and Monastery Mentor, but you probably wouldn't ever want to unless you were short on playables.

Huh... I did consider that card, actually. It was definitely much better than it looked in limited, but not that good. There's dragonlord s at mythic, for crying out loud :')

I mean, Soul of Theros was a certified bomb. In fact I'ld probably pick most of the souls and a few of the planeswalkers over Triplicate Spirits, but it's definitely right below those

I couldn’t crack the Monastery Swiftspear and Monastery Mentor clue so I almost dismissed my guess. But then I thought you maybe (and cleverly) meant that the cards were in the same block which means you could draft them together..but really didn’t want to because they go in different directions.

This card has been included in Standard decklists at the highest level tournament, and as a result numerous casual players own it, but I couldn't for the life of me remember ever reading it before I found it today clicking Random Card in Scryfall.

Nowadays, it would be hard to defend even a sideboard inclusion; it would have easily been C+ draft chaff. Wizards clearly didn't Hold the Line on power creep.

This card's flavor text has quotes of two different characters whose cards were first printed 4 years apart. But one of the quotes is, in a later print, strangely not attributed to the character anymore. He might very well have been cancelled.
