Another one-worder.
Is this broken?

Is it fun? It seems not fun.

It certainly require instants/flash effects. Otherwise you’re never going to empty your hand.

Broken? Far from it, I think (except in Type 4 I guess). Compare to humble Divination. Same mana value, but with Divination you 1) get more choices up-front concerning what to cast, 2) can cast another spell the same turn if it's later than turn 3, and 3) can double-spell on later turns to use all your mana. I think using all of one's mana is MUCH better than the promise of repeatable card draw that chokes you out on your mana. Also consider the diminishing returns to card draw -- when I draw 2 extra cards via Dig through Time, there's a high chance I can cast them both, but when I draw 7 from Windfall, it's very likely I won't be able to cast them all even in the next two turn cycles, meaning that the mana and effort spent to draw the extra cards was wasted.

Fun? Also seems dubious to me. I don't want the floor case of spending 3 mana for the privilege of being artificially mana-screwed if I don't draw any instants. Humans tend to remember their peak emotions more than their longest-term emotions, and tend to recall negative events more easily than positive ones, and I think it's rough that a peak emotion here is tilt. But, like, fun is also subjective, so I don't want to crimp your style if this seems fun to you! :)

To me it looks fun in the Demonic Pact kind of way, like "how can I build a deck to mitigate the downsides while reaping the benefits of the upsides". These type of cards always get my mental wheels spinning, even if I never end up putting them in any of my decks.

Yeah I think the deck building aspects of the cards is quite interesting to me.

yeah i would run Moderation in EDH and be very happy playing the mini game of trying to draw a card on each players’ turn. in cube, it’s TRAP CITY and i don’t recommend it. the floor is so, so bad. you will give a drafter a bad night by including it.

eyyyyyy ephara edh, that’s the perfect home! i actually just finished porting most of my ephara deck into a derevi shell.
BTW does fast//furious seem kinda good or am i nuts? it doesn’t blow you out like thrill of possibility and is a handy sweeper if you need that instead?
i think i’d rather it be aftermath than split though

I like Fast // Furious, you lose a bit of the mana efficiency of course, but you gain flexibility and like you said you don't have to deal with getting hosed by a counter. Really good for my Loam/Seismic Assault style decks that want to dig for the deck pieces, but also want to play the long game with board wipes/removal etc.

With 2 other artifacts/enchantments this is already quite powerful. +3/+3 for equip 2 with a body attached is not bad at all, and with, say, 4 other artifacts/enchantments, it's absurd. I think it's stronger than Cranial Plating.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion it might be too much for me

I’m super interested in testing this new guy, but the instant speed equip still pushes cranial plating ahead in my mind from a power standpoint.

I’m not sure I run enough enchantments for it to make that big of a difference. Coming with a body is a big deal tho.

I love when cards intersect artifacts and enchantments like this and restoration specialist. It really eases things up from a design standpoint when you are trying to support both in a cube.

And the same post convinced me it might be enough for me lol.

I've been considering running just the UB artifact land. They're so cool.

I want to run all of the blue artifact lands, but they would be taking the place of the blue bounce lands, and that’s a hard cut for my heart to make

I'm unsure about the Cranial playing comparison. At least when I played against it in Modern, a lot of it's strength came from the attach ability. That said cube is a totally different context and I've never run an artifacts matter theme, so I don't think I have an informed option here.

Double post but I think this is a good one- meet Esper Sentinel!
espersentinel.jpg

I think this card is going to be a really neat way to help aggressive White decks maintain a reasonable card count against spell-heavy midrange and control strategies. Realistically, those decks won't always be able to pay the cost to avoid letting the Sentinel's Controller draw a card, so the sentinel can do quite a bit of work as a draw engine over the course of a game. Esper Sentinel also has the potential for some nice equipment and +1/+1 counter synergies, as the cost to prevent a draw is tied to it's power. I like this card a lot and will be including it if it isn't too expensive.

Speaking of artifacts...I’m heavily considering this card. My cube has close to 50/50 split of creature/non-creature spells. I’ve never found Thalia, Guardian of Thraben very playable in my cube due to how much aggressive decks rely on noncreature support in my environment. However, the sentinel is another story. I particularly like how it works with my stax archetype as well as my power buffing subtheme in white. To top it off it is a 1cmc artifact which is a huge plus for my cube.

Maybe it’s a little on the cute side, but I think it’s worth testing
