Good god WHAT is this anatomy??

It's not just me, right??

This is anatomically correct; it just is that her cloths are so bulky it creates an impression something is off-kilter.

Actual paintwork is refreshing to see, and this is quite nice.

I know I'm crazy for even bothering to post this, but, this wall-that-mills-with-relevant-typings seems like it could have a place in a cube that wanted to explore mill. I like the potential to do a little Protect the Queen here with Riptide Laboratory. Just a little Food for Thought for all you mill-loving loons out there (I'm typing this to myself, I know)

I actually like this a lot. Strong flavour, lots of possibility. Obviously a big upgrade from a card I've long pondered, Dominate, the capability of this to grab a fair shake of cube goodies as a sorcery and all of them if you have a discard outlet is really quite spicy. Maybe it's not main cube material, but that 180-c graveyard shenanigans/madness cube I've been kicking around keeps looking more and more viable as spoiler season rolls on.

Dominate is an instant, which is pretty relevant. As long as you can madness it, Welcome to the Fold is a nice upgrade. Super small GY cube sounds like a perfect fit :)

Wonder where these rank? Was hoping for enemy BFZ lands (to get a full cycle) but I guess those and these will come along sometime.

I find it really strange that they have only put allied fixing in the two most current standard blocks. Maybe they knew the 5-colour manabases of the current standard would appear and they wanted to force people back to two colour.
Actually, I forgot about the creature-lands. Don't mind me. So the standard fixing for rotation will be:

Handy Lands (above, Allied colours)
Battle Lands (Allied colours)
Uncommon OGW Taplands (Allied colours)
Uncommon SOI Taplands (Enemy colours)
Creature Lands (Enemy colours)
Pain Lands (Enemy colours)

Yeah, I can't see anything more than 2 colours with a splash happening with this manabase. Man, these uncommon lands make me only realise how much I took those Khans gainlands for granted. They were great for budget decks. Now I have to deal with no life and a rarity upshift? Talk about Khans power creep.

Actually talking about Handy Lands (awesome name stolen from Tzenmoroth) - I guess they function well with the Battle Lands and add some interesting deck building and sequencing decisions for allied colour decks.

Now seeing these lands I have decided that UB Tentacle Pact shall be my new standard deck.

Burn from Within
XR
Sorcery
Burn from Within deals X damage to target creature or player. If a creature is dealt damage this way, it loses indestructible until end of turn. If that creature would die this turn, exile it instead.

You know, I was lamenting the fact that Red Sun's Zenith shuffled in a little while ago.
Though if I don't specifically need the exile, Maybe crater's claws or Devil's Play can come back?

I make this silly remark and yet I didn't even realise this was spoiled.

MORE TENTACLES I CAN ADD TO MY PACT!

And the new lands help me cast Grasp of Darkness and still count towards the engulf. This is going to be glorious :D

I'm still a big fan of Devil's Play. The flashback is enough to give Fireball the push it needed to be relevant in cube. The best moments are when you use it on turn 2 to kill a Mother of Runes then completely forget about it until you NEED to find an answer and dig through everything to find out you could have killed them 3 turns ago :p

Enchantment
{1}, Discard a card: Put a 1/1 black Vampire knight token with lifelink onto the battlefield. Activate this ability only once per turn.
In response to Sorin's appeal, Olivia Voldaren resorted to the full power of her lineage, summoning all members to Fortress Lurenbraum.

I feel a madness cube coming very, very soon for me. But is this good enough for my current list? I don't think so. Not quite what I want side-by-side with Bitterblossom, and I don't think I can ever cut that card, it's too iconic for me.

Oh good, it isn't just me. I feel like this set provides a lot of missing pieces for certain graveyard-centric interactions.

as far as recent spoilers go I'm not wild about the lands for my cube(s) but I think they're pretty nice otherwise. But if I thought sequencing with tangos was hard before...

The lords tickle my fancy. Rattlechains doesn't seem like it'll do much but Silverfur Partisan is a delicious build around, especially since I already tend to jam a stupid wolf deck into my cubes Predator's Howl/Master of the Wild Hunt/Raised by Wolves. I'm sure I can find something for Diregraf Colossus and Thalia's Lieutenant to do.

I'm on the fence about Falkenrath Gorger. It's a 2/1 with a largely irrelevant upside in a color with 2/1s with downsides. Red tends to dominate the 1v1 games we play, but then again we usually play multiplayer so I don't know if that matters.

I thought I was the only one. Part of me wants to reintroduce madness and have this guy be part of that, but I just did a massive restructuring and so I really don't want to go through all that testing again. I may still find a spot for this new dude because obviously he's good in the generic aggro deck, but I'm not really unhappy with my red 1's and this card may signal a deck that you can't actually build. So I'm not sure the upside is there.

Sin Prodder is interesting in that it wants you to have higher-cost cards in your deck. It plays better with Fiery Temper than with Lightning Bolt, for example. As a punisher card it's worse than its two options, i.e., a card that reads "At the beginning of your upkeep, put the top card of your library into your graveyard, Sin Prodder deals damage equal to that card's power to target opponent." or instead "At the beginning of your upkeep, draw a card." which would both be pure insanity on a 3/2 for 2R. Also it has menace. So, you know, gravy.

It's also worth noting that someone could try and use it to Countryside Crusher you out of land cards, but hey, you still draw a card for the turn.

Card seems like a lot of fun.

It's probably a hair better than the Ire Shaman that I'm currently running, who's no slouch but isn't terribly exciting, either. I also suspect that many turns it'll do nothing - a lot of the power of Dark Confidant is revealing lands and taking zero - but I suppose if you merely draw one spell off it per game, it'll have done its job already.

If the penalty for the value of this thing is "you don't draw extra lands" then I am a-ok with it! Already a respectable body.

Embarrassing to read the comments of people who somehow interpret its ability as your opponent controlling your real draw step.

Devil is bonkers in aggro. Hitting a land is great, less dead draws. Hitting spells is just value one way or the other. That card needs to shut up and get in my cube.

Yeah, I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said about Sin Prodder... just wanted to chime in that it's my second favorite card in the set, right after Thing in the Ice.

Lots of people on MTGS arguing it's punisher and therefore won't be very good. Which of course simply means it's not broken and OP, and thus should be a snap include for most cubes here. I'm super excited about it because red 3's are uninspiring.

I think Sin Prodder's goodness is being slightly overstated.

But only slightly. The card is fabulous. Unless your deck really doesn't care about the opponents life total, this thing is going to provide value. The trigger gets weaker the lower your curve is, though, which is ironic of course because those are the decks that care the most about the opponent's life total (which is where the trigger is at its best). This is why I think the card is slightly overrated: the trigger's value is sort of self-regulating. Cards with weird alternate casting costs and top of the library manipulation are pretty cool this and and its nice that red gets a way to play with this theme.

I'm wondering what to do with the clue cards. Plenty of the cards with the mechanic are playable. Is it something worth going in on? I guess I don't have a big picture yet on how these cards can cross over yet.

Thinking about it more, I kinda like Big Sorin? Sometimes it's a worse Ob Nixilis, but when it's better it's so much better. The CMC checking is really fun both when rigged and when random: sometimes you miracle a 6-drop to steal a game, sometimes you Vamp for a Murderous Cut and dome them. It's a fun finisher on top of a solid card advantage engine. For a card that expensive, having the option to gain a bunch of life is nice too.

I also think Sin Prodder is overrated. Worth a try though.
