Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Inscho could!

I don't think I have any draw triggers left, so it just seems like it's not super "breakable". I think the coolest it gets is to like jam down baubles and stuff in the first couple turns, chrome mox, Mishra's bauble, lightning axe, etc. and then refill before the other player can really capitalize on the new hand? Mishra's Bauble is cool because it draws on the next upkeep so you can crack it, TT, and then draw up to 8 cards on their turn.

Also can be recurred with Goblin Dark Dwellers! (don't know if a good thing lol)

I play Time Spiral as my blue control power slot. It's been really good but a positive effect on the format imo. Sometimes control decks end up being too 'cute' and falling apart in-game; Time Spiral pushes a kind of raw density of answers control deck that I think is good to have in the metagame.

True, but I happen to own a Personal Tutor, and not a Mystical Tutor :) Mainly though, I like the play pattern of Personal Tutor better in theory, because you can't just go eot tutor, draw the card you needed next turn, you have to actually plan a turn ahead, and your opponent gets a turn to play around whatever you searched for. I don't think the slight non-synergy with one single card in the cube should be a deterrant in that regard.

That makes sense, apologies if I seemed dismissive. Tutoring for a situationally good card with Mystical, then flashing it back with Torrential has been a tidy and attractive incentive for control here. So I value that a lot as it's been difficult to entice people to draft control.

Looking at your cube, most of the targets that are worth tutoring for are sorcery spells anyways....your instants are predominately role-players. Seems like it'd be worth a test run.

It's cool, good counterarguments force you to better think about why a certain card would be a better fit. In a vacuum, Mystical Tutor is simply the better card, so I better had a reason why I wanted to try Personal Tutor rather than Mystical (other than that I happen to own Personal Tutor) :)

Maybe a custom version that tutors for a card delayed. In this way you get what you want without going super low power.

So Sigh suggested this as my black wrath in my cube, particularly as I can transmute for it. What do people think about it? I kind of like that its cost generally scales to kill whatever is needed, but I'm psychologically having difficulty getting over leaving my creatures behind with -1/-1 counters on it. I know I'm probably just being stupid, but what do others think of the card, and it's appropriateness for my cube?
