The Etherium Astrolabe

For a while i've been thinking what it wanted to do to soothe my itch to cube. Ever since i met jason,
and got a taste at cubing myself (the novice cube) i felt like there was no way except for me to
eventually get myself a full 360 packed with cards that could help others proclaim intelectual prowess and skill over one another.
I started gathering random uncommons and commons ranging between CMC 1 and 4 in little heaps on my desk
hoping that one day i'd crack open my rare binders and was able to build myself a cube.
i never expected it to be a themed cube though.
Enter the Etherium Astrolabe.
1697_EtheriumAstrolabe.jpg

Etherium astrolabe is the only colored artifact with flash ever printed, and one of only seven noncreature artifacts with flash.
It supports so many theme's that in itself it has become the inspiration for my cube
Multicolor, (with it's off-color ability)
Flash // instant speed abilities // instants
Artifacts, with artifact dependancy and metalcraft
Sacrifice themes
It's been such a well of inspiration for me, that i started building me cube right then and there.
If all goes well it'll be highly interactive, fast while tinkering and most of all fun!
I'd be most gratefull to you if you'd be willing to check the link underneath, The evergrowing cubetutor list !

This cube sounds absolutely awesome Hannes! Please keep us updated on the progress.

Are you going to be using http://www.cubetutor.com/ to track your cube? I'd be interested in doing some online drafts of this when you have it done!

Already doing so (http://cubetutor.com/viewcube/1376) , and I'll be using it to keep track of where my list stands right now as well.

I'm updating it as we speak, and in about a good 30 minutes a decent feel should start to be present. I'm at 180 now, and still have 120 cards left to improve most likely removal and aggro, and to increase the theme-overlap.

It'll also include a utility land stack with cards like Buried ruins, artifact lands (Esper shard ?), but it might not do so right from the beginning. (I'd like the cube to be self-sustaining before I go and add the "gravy".)

Update ! 202 cards in the list i'm typing this down. 160 to go, of wich ~ 50 will be fixing-lands. from there I'll take it further, filling the black, red and white sections with theme's, and making sure green has enough beef to stand alone.

I feel like I'll have to push "your average" Aggro deck pretty far. most likely a boros list, pivoting on the double goblin-guide/student of warfare/(maybe double figure of destiny?).

I'm thinking about instead taking the bunch of white and red metalcrafters, and some from mirrodin block and the esper-shard, to keep it themathic. However i'm afraid they won't be able to carry their weight, and'll just get overpowerd by the other concotions.
any opinions on that ?

guess i should go themathic then. It feels like more fun for sure !

EDIT:leonin shikari. any takers ?

Edit: allready quite happy with where tinker resides.

the result of that draft isn't worth anything though ;)

EDIT2:

EDIT3:Merged all the posts to clean this up a bit already. I think i can get my colored sections done by tonight or tommorow. i'm really excited to be able to draft this on cubetutor, and even more excited about what comes next. I hope i will be wellreceived, but i expect grave trial and error.

Golgari graveyard/sac stuff
This is what I got, I probably made some bad choices though... hm. I am sort of inexperienced with cube.
Wouldn't the 2 loams be more interesting with a Horizon Canopy or Haunted Fengraf or something of that nature? It is pretty neat with the Pack Rat though!

horizon might make it in the 360, and i'll be sure to include Haunted fengraf in the utility land stack i'm preparing! (think buried ruin, lonely sandbar, contested war zone etc.)
Loam + pack rate seems like one hell of a deck !
A mistake i made as well though: make sure you save the deck before you share the link. => anotak's deck: http://cubetutor.com/cubedeck/16917

Edit 1: wurmcoil engine why the fuck do you have to be so overpowerd just a regular 6/6 wich makes two regular 3/3's would've been sick already.

Edit 3: Over the few drafts, it became obvious that Blue and white are praticularly strong. from here on out i'll have to counter-react to that. i'm thinking of just throwing a pro-blue/white bomb in there, but that might be too harsh. (akroma, angel of fury ?)

So yesterday me and jason did a Grid-draft (wich happend because our local store has poor planning, and thus didn't announced the absence of the monthly modern tournament)

This resulted in the following deck on my half:

hannes' jund (42 cards)

Jason's deck got lost in the process, (his sideboard and deck got shuffled up and then split somehow. meaning it ended up in diffrent places in the cube), but it certainly played Batterskull, mystical teachings, slag fiend, tinker, etherium astrolab and blade splicer, amongst other cool cards and interactions, in a grixis Tempo shell.

the matches where fun and even, with some borderline ridiculous plays as well.
(tinker, fetch my solemn simulacrum. Hell's caretaker in general. blocking with a gobling guide)

Does anyone have an opinion on artifact lands in this cube ?
I've been considering them as tinker-fodder, affinity-food and this:
Image.ashx

The main questions are wether or not to actually include them, or maybe in the utility land stack ?

EDIT: added dominate and opportunity to the cube as mystical tutor targets.

i dunno, you could do worse than Seat of the Synod in utility land draft. pretty tame interactions here (trinket mage as borderland ranger; thirst for knowledge as instant-speed win, etc)

I had artifact lands in the utility pile and they were pretty nice. That was back when we played Tezzeret though.

So we grid-drafted, and i lost all my games. despite that they were really interactive and close, and i had loads of fun!

kristof's RUG midrangy stuff (3-0, 40 cards)

My pile of crap:

hannes's BRwg crap (0-3, 41 cards)
