    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I mean, it does technically provide card replacement, same as any of the other similar effects. The rate is just not good enough and there's whiff potential.

I think the legendary status matters a lot less for these in balancing them. The channel ability doesn't require they be in play first.

Not this makes the card weak by any stretch, but just for anyone who may not have noticed: the opponent can search out nonbasics (shockland etc), and their land doesn't come in tapped. For cube I can't see it being problematic. It's still a draft slot. Seems like a naturalize that actually has...

Great card. Unique in RW; provides card advantage while offering a different take on vertical growth for RW (usually counters more a RG thing). Can't see removing it for much of anything.

Pretty much the entire scrap trawler ecosystem as well. Really an awesome kingpin for that sort of fiddly artifact looper deck as a way to actually close the game out lol.

I'm also considering it to bolster blues place in artifacts a bit, because it is a payoff from boardstates before and after it's cast. Best of both worlds! (In general I'm a fan of cards that are a payoff to things that either have already happened throughout a game, or that don't care when they...

Cannoneer is much better, even with cycling on Husk, IMO. It puts +1 counters on instead of a temp +1! That's a crazy difference for a card that starts bigger and is much harder to remove while also potentially being cheaper.

General Weekly Fun Q: Which was your favorite Standard meta?

Now to be fair, I only played standard for a few years, so my lens is a bit tight. Most of my MTG has been as a #casual (Force of Nature my beloved).

I think 4 for scry and 3 for surveil, if the GY has even an ounce of meaning to a format.

General Weekly Fun Q: Which was your favorite Standard meta?

Probably RTR -> Theros. Made some really fun decks in that meta. I had this awesome Bant flash deck that went like Selesnya Charm Loxodon Smiter Advent of the Wurm Horizon Chimera Prophet of Kruphix armada wurm with all the various ramp, support, and removal etc. Ran a couple Sphinx's...

Wow what. This is a hell of a Jayemdae Tome variant. 4x cheaper activation, draw 2 discard 1 instead of plain draw, and it self-powers a future beefstick finisher mode that doubles as a 1 mana -> 1/1 token a turn. Jesus

I'd say "best for the game in a general vacuum" or at least the "best for a generalized cube community". It opens up so many synergies and incidental advantages, and does it in such an efficient-yet-not-OP way, all while being colorless and therefore available to any deck that wants it; that I...

Which is also the reason it gets around summoning sickness. The Artifact - Vehicle that the permanent becomes doesn't care about that (unless it's crewed)

These all look quite different to me. Color palette is consistent on purpose I'm sure, and I bet they are trying to worldbuild some sort of standard design principals for the like "rat style" power armors (the moonfolk mechs have a very different but also internally consistent design).

new bonesplitter dropped. This one comes with memory issues and no graveyard synergies lol. But can be legitimately powerful in certain circumstances. Importantly for my context, it copies double strike onto the next holder. I might replace bloodforged battle-axe with this.
