    The Book Thread

Like any book it's only good for what you get out of it. If it helps you refine your own worldview, even if it's in opposition to it, then that's a step forward as long as you're not just looking for reasons to confirm what you already thought. Not to get into political debates here, but for...

    The Book Thread

Whenever a philosophy has a small number of adherents it's much easier to define it by its extreme fringes, but that doesn't mean much. The 'Rand = libertarianism' thing is an odd chestnut given that she hated libertarians and most of them hated her

    General Beginner Mistakes

It's more oppressive in Constructed just because of the expectation of it - there are lots of decks that are 'powerful' but still unplayable because they fold to a turn 1 Thoughtseize. In Cube, even if you could construct a deck where that would be true it wouldn't be as much of a problem...

    General Fixing Mulligans, Improving Games

Somebody suggested that the player on the draw gets to look at the top card before making their mulligan decision. It gives you extra information without actually altering the normal start-of-game process.

Ok, but then you accept that those more widely usable cards will be poached by midrange/control decks sometimes.

But then you're carving off a great chunk of space in your Cube for cards that only fit in one category of decks.

Card/Deck Shit Thread: Planeswalker Tier List

'slightly above Necropolis Regent' Elspeth SC isn't up there with Jace or its younger sibling, but it's powerful in a fun way and can't be cheated into play in the 'lol T3 Reanimate my Grave Titan' sense

Card/Deck Shit Thread: Planeswalker Tier List

I'm constantly surprised by how little talk I hear about Sarkhan Vol. I get that, depending on what you're trying to do, it might not be the best 2RG card or even the best RG planeswalker, but the card is terrifying. If you're relying on a single creature to hold the fort, Sarkhan just ends the...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

A nice compromise is cheap, sorcery-speed removal. That's why I'm a big fan of Oust - you can get a turn of value from your big guy, but then the opponent can answer it and play something else in the same turn to get back to parity.

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

Birthing Pod is the perfect card to Squadron, in any deck where it's good it's the card you most want to draw and taking additional Pods out of the draft means you don't have to take a Pod at the expense of a good Pod-able creature.
