Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Devourer of Memory is cool, but it's probably too weak for my power level. It's a cool card in draft, though. Prized Amalgam may be it, though I wonder how narrow it is and if the slot would be better served by something else. But it's probably the most...

Wait, I didn't notice that! I don't think I have any stuff like that in my cube but it IS interesting.

You make good arguments for Bala Ged Recovery. What about these cards? I love Tempo decks but they lack a bit of oomph and I have a free slot: Coastal Piracy Reconnaissance Mission Bident of Thassa

I don't want to run Bala Ged Recovery because then random decks will take it instead of leaving the effect for those that need it.

One of the things I want to do is makes like this actually good: Dimir Dredge I feel it's close, but not quite.

Frantic Search is like a Thrill of Possibility that is actually good. If you want to play spells, dump lands from Loam and Land Tax or put creatures in the graveyard it's the best way to do it. Sure, it's card disadvantage, but you can always discard something that makes it neutral. To me it's a...

    General Designer vs. Player

Ah thanks Nanonox! Don't worry, I don't mean it in a bad way. It's just that my critical skills are much better than, well, my design ones. I'm having a lot of fun building the cube and learning so I'm ok. And I'm glad you find my decks useful! I always love when others draft my cube, it gives...

    General Designer vs. Player

Unsurprisingly, I'm a much better player than designer. I often know there are better ways to do things, but I don't have the skill or knowledge to implement them.

That's the thing Trainmaster. I want those decks to exist in my cube. But...they don't. So I want to see if I should cut it, like you say, or see if I can shift things a little

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I've been thinking about what works and what doesn't so I can not just add good cards but see where they are needed. Stuff that isn't pulling its weight: Ripjaw Raptor Grapple with the Past Beast Within Fleetwheel Cruiser Platinum Angel Death Cloud And...

I'm the opposite, I've found Regrowth always useful while Grapple with the Past is...questionable. The reason is that Regrowth can get back all your engines and other vital cards. It can replay Smokestack, a discarded Wildfire, Crucible of Worlds, etc. Part of the issue is that both fight for...

I don't think Lotus Petal is good in cube. I mean, in your dreams cenario where you cast Emry turn 1 all you get is a Birds of Paradise that makes you discard a card. I would rather run any other trinket for Emry than the petal. And I love the Petal, mind you.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Ok so at this point I need this many cards per section of the cube. 1 Dimir 1 Gruul 1 Selesnya 0-1 White 0-1 Blue 2-3 Black 1-2 Red Most notably, none of my cuts have been missed. For example, it took me a while to recognize that Renegade Railler was no longer in my cube. It wasn't adding...

Seeing your decks is amazing guys. You are so much better at drafting than I am! You actually draft in a logical manner, the famous "hard way", instead of forcing colours from the start like I do. I particularly love the spicy use of Devastating Dreams in this UR deck drafted by Dom. UR...

Gingerbrute Aggro one-drops are parasitic. Gingerbrute, however, can be run in all colours. It also has both haste and evasion, which keeps it relevant at all points in the game. More importantly, it promotes drafters to look for equipment, auras and other ways to boost its power. It's even...

General Revisiting Aristocrat Environments: Things that don't mind dying

Reveillark gives you massive "range". It's a threat on itself (4/3) flyer and if dealt with, it brings more threats. And if one of those is Eternal Witness, you can do it again. It's a beating.

General Revisiting Aristocrat Environments: Things that don't mind dying

Hangarback Walker fills a dozen roles and helps countless archetypes but it's extremely strong. I ran it, then cut it because it was too strong and now I'm tempted to run it again. It's juast assured value. It goes withe very deck, can be played at any point in the curve and must be answered. If...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I've been doing some changes. Not even bother to document them, I just went and cut all the weird multicolour stuff that wasn't getting played. Same thing with some green cards like Become Immense and others that were so poor I can't even remember what they did. Also I decided to jump the gun...
