Grillo vs Kirblinx: Non-White Penny Pincher Draft

I have the winning decks as: 1) g/b value reanimator 2) g/b rampanimator 3) G/B/u/r good stuff 4) rug control 5) rb aggro Its unfortunate our last draft was non-white, as we had made some pretty significant changes to that color over the course of the league, and I would have loved to see the...

    Card/Deck Defensive cards

We have a tendency on here to talk more about individual cards than decks, and while I've been going on a mini-aggro crusade for the past 8ish months, there really isn't much discussion about what elements make up a control deck. Its essentially a brewing issue, at the end of the day. Control...

Grillo vs Kirblinx: Non-White Penny Pincher Draft

So this was the deck It was actually 15 lands. I had experimented with a blue splash rather than black, and had to rework it back to the original R/G/b build. I still don't feel that this was a bad deck, or necessarily a bad draft, but I made a few decisions during the draft that...

Grillo vs Kirblinx: Non-White Penny Pincher Draft

Basically I got savaged. I'll post my deck later, but I didn't really come out of the grid draft with a coherent plan. I was in a "protect the queen" aggro deck, but didn't realize it, and had no disruption for the few pieces of removal he had, so the whole plan would fall apart with a couple...

    The Penny Pincher Cube (360)

a few very minor tweeks cut somber hoverguard for spined thopter. Thopter is a better role player than hoverguard for what the cube wants to do as a whole, even if it isn't the most exciting of cards. I'm also cutting the kiln fiend for a frenzied goblin. Kiln fiend is ok, but its kind of...

Site News CFB Store Credit Contest: Design a Cube Card

I was thinking more he takes a line that he likes, and uses that. I would love to see something more specific as well: kind of a design challenge. The one I would like would be to come up with a fair, but playable, storm card, as I've heard people say its not possible.

Site News CFB Store Credit Contest: Design a Cube Card

A Jelly-Fish Visible, invisible, A fluctuating charm, An amber-colored amethyst Inhabits it; your arm Approaches, and It opens and It closes; You have meant To catch it, And it shrivels; You abandon Your intent— It opens, and it Closes and you Reach for it— The blue Surrounding it Grows...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I remember reading on here that madcap skills was very strong in normal riptide cubes. I really like the idea of strong aggro enchantments, as that seems to be a spot where a difficult to deal with pernament type can do good work fairly.

I was thinking about that card, but the wording on all of my fallen empires era versions is so hideous.

This is a lot more reasonable if you are looking for an effect like that drowner of hope

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Thanks for the suggestions. Sparksmith and the guildmages are really great cards, but I am trying to stay away from the defacto multi-color cards and cards that can lead drafters down bad paths (hence why I don't like rally). Also, trying to stay 2cc or less. Frenzied goblin actually looks...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Yeah, thats what I was wondering. It looks really bad compared to the other two, but you can really set up a nasty alpha with it, or use it to chip damage in. Evasion is a big deal. Rusalka is mostly because of the glory of being able to run a huge swarth of sac outlets for once. Fireslinger...

    Eomund's (First) Cube

yeah, darkblast and shambling shell have been very good for me as well. Brownscale is pretty good at lower power too. Other than that I try to fill out graveyard interactions with evoke/cycling/vanishing/fading. Don't really like troll, loam, stinkweed imp, or thug.

    Eomund's (First) Cube

That looks pretty reasonable, and should be a good spot to get started from. Usually I look for flexible cards that can work in those decks, but aren't so narrow they only really work in those deck. fyi dredge decks in cube are usually more about slow value accumulation and ETBs, which is...

    Eomund's (First) Cube

A couple points, first if you are making a cube to save money, I strongly encourage you to avoid any expensive cards, or at least proxy the expensive cards on your first endeavor. Building a cube is basically brewing 10-20 decks across color pairs/wedges/shards and putting them together into an...

ooo how fun. At what point are you at in learning German? I agree that picking a language you like, and finding recreational activities with it is a good idea. When I was very early in learning Italian, I would download fan translated roms of 16 bit rpgs I really liked as a kid, stuff like...
