Which begs the question, what do you guys think about supporting combo decks in cube? Aggro-combo decks have to be some of the most mild varients, due to how disruptable they are. Does it have to not condense the game at all? Sort of a slow build like Innistrad's spider spawning archetype?

    Congrats CML!

Congrats, you played very well. Its good to see you having a positive experience. Do you think that its that whip decks are very good, or that you are just very good at playing whip decks?

The decks like that which I support revolve around effects like: den protector champion of lambholt wandering wolf skarrgan pit-skulk Deliberately leaving out threats like silhana ledgewalker for reasons stated, though I love lumberknot. Just noticed how great the art on lumbernot is...

Matron adds a cool control element to that deck. Don't forget she can also fetch: warren weirding tarfire nameless inversion

I wish they would at least go back to RUG and BUG: much easier to understand.

I've been down the incidental tribal road before. I think the soldiers, wizards, vampires, and shamans aren't really worth it. I've personally done vampires before--and I will agree with other posters that its an attractive trap (even when done incidentally). The other three look similar...

    General Generic Tribal

Could we define this a bit deeper? I've had tribal decks that occasionally get some incidental benefit from creature types (e.g. humans, zombies, vampires). Stuff like, "I want to draft a black aggro deck so gravecrawler looks good, hey look all of my other black aggro beaters happen to be...

The rules for true tribal in cube are: 1. The tribal pieces must not to be poisonous 2. Incentive synergy for having a lot of these cards. The only true tribal deck that I've personally seen work in cube is splicers. At the right power level you get efficent threats that just happen to bring...

Ugh I hate that deck. Shutting someone out with spore frog recycles has got to be the lamest way to win the game. Though you can thankfully just burn the thing EOT.

My favorite of those effects: Reaping the graves It feels so good to get value out of it.

I think thats correct for that format. It has about 3-4 different strategic pillars where strategies cluster, rather than focusing on archetype build arounds. That result is mostly because of the impact bouncelands have on tempo, and the artifact fixing combined with cards that care about...

I think the real eye opener moment for me was when I realized that the amount I was spending to play the pauper metagame casually was roughly equal to the investment that would be required to play the hearthstones meta game competitively. Also making that penny cube. Thats $150-$200 for...

Yeah, I experimented with the hexproof/aura deck at the early phase of the penny cube, and ended up cutting it. Just not a fun deck. Giving some of that in the form of tempory hexproof/protection has worked out pretty well, since than people have to actually play around percieved disruption.

Isn't a "pants deck" a deck where you beef up a creature using equipment? I still don't know some of the nomenclature. This is more about aggro-control.

I thought this guys post was pretty spot on: When you compare magic with a lot of these emerging games like hearthstone, the mtg structure looks really outdated. Considering the insane investment of time and money that competitive magic requires, you would think the rewards would be...

It says a lot about the game's anti-social tendencies when players can't even conceive as to why someone would evaluate the pro tour from the perspective of a social experience.

    General The Pro Tour Sucks

Well that was great. Since starting to regularly read magic content/watch videos its amzing how sterile and anti-social it all is. Video commentary is bland, devoid of personality, and as hyper technical as the nit picky comments viewers leave behind. For a game thats shifted so much towards...

    (and) Another MORPH cube

The theory would be that with the 10 bouncelands in the cube, anyone should be able to ramp up to them, and with the outlast lords, you aren't just buffiing your smaller dragons; you're giving them first strike, life link ect. Plus, with morph, you are already looking at a slower format, so...

    (and) Another MORPH cube

With the bouncelands providing a form of ramp for each color, why not add untapers, and outlast lords to support a dragon tribal and +1 +1 counter theme: Dragon Lords belltoll dragon acid-spewer dragon shieldhide dragon stormwing dragon herdchaser dragon Outlast Lords ainok...
