    Card/Deck Vamps

Thats just the thing though, he didn't. Go take a look at it again, and look how he structured it. Of the eight paragraphs, five of them are either outright ad hominems directed at CML, or at least include some sort of passive jab at him. Paragraph 2 is a defense of Randy, which would be fine...

So, after toying around with it, cutting and adding cards based on suggestions, here are all of the cuts/inclusions: Out goblin bombardment grapeshot dragonscale boon cavern harpy cloud of faeries ghostly flicker ghostly flicker gods willing master splicer nightscape familiar sunscape...

    Card/Deck Vamps

There really aren't a lot of cards that reward you for having multiple vampires while not being poisonous. The best you are going to get is bloodline keeper, and I can speak from personal experience that decks running stromkirk noble or falkenrath aristocrat are going to be more interested in...

    Card/Deck Vamps

Given how reasonable you were in the actual article (which was great btw) its difficult not to see his post as anything more than an animus driven overreaction. How nicer can you get than this qualifier: You cede right off the bat that: 1. There are community expectations constraining...

Sets [DTK] Dragons of Tarkir Spoilers Thread

I just want to be the first one to say it: "Mighty Mega Morphing Rangers" Whew...I feel oddly better. Also, I have some slight flavor issues with MEGAMORPH, the ability (I will never be able to say that normally in draft). Dosen't it make more sense flavorfully to have the megamorph morphs...

    Card/Deck Golem Tribal

So, based on the number of times I've been asked in the thread, "why would someone do this" it would seem I've done a very poor job explaining myself. Thankfully, CML just provided this fantastic article, about tribal archetypes, which can hopefully help illuminate the topic. So, key points...

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

Even here though, gruul breaks your heart. The zoo and big zoo cards are fine but than you get: 1. R/G ion storm, a deck whose strategic plan is to build up an early powerful aggro presence, and than whittles it away to cast overpriced shocks. 2. Landfall, a deck that is better in G/W, due...

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

Don't give up yet, there is the chance that mega-ferocious, or whatever its called, saves the day.

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

Yeah, its looking pretty grim. Sadly, a lot of color pairing flavor comes from the ravinca sets, and gruul was always the big dumb guild that hated artifacts. Do any gruul cards really jump out to anyone as something they want to play? I just love bloodrush, and am content with ghor-clan...

You have to keep in mind that staggershock was designed for a format running guys like this at common and uncommon: ulamog's crusher pelakka wurm kozilek's predator

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

I agree. Its just a thought exercise to provide some direction on where WOTC has been pushing the color pair. When you are actually building that part of your cube, you won't want a disproportionately large gruul section to carry the color combination.

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

I like hammer as well: late game mana sinks are nice. The multi-color cards seem to push towards strategies revolving around midrange creatures and: Tier A 1. Haste 2. Ramp 3. Wide Aggro/Overrun Tier B 4. Control 5. Grindy Cards The control elements are very light, but would work in a...

    Card/Deck Golem Tribal

Its an exaggeration: you of course don't always have access to blink effects; but its the basic strategy, and why its notable/unique compared to other midrange strategies. Its where it derives a lot of its ability to play an effective attrition game.

    Card/Deck Golem Tribal

Ah, so you want to know why someone would do this? The big benefits are that its very compact and boosts your artifact count. 1. Each splicer acts as a "golem lord" and brings a golem with him. If you select splicers that have good stand alone value, than you get to have the benefit of...

    Card/Deck Golem Tribal

This thread isn't so much about an actual "deck" so much as its about capitalizing on some incidental synergy, that opens up interesting design options, depending on your power level. Its certaintly not a contextless competition between an undefined "golem deck" and undefined "graveyard deck".

Why not: My Friend's Peasant Cube

Isn't brainstorm kind of terrible here without fetchlands? It dosen't look too bad for sweepers. You could run various pyroclasm effects in red, starstorm and rolling thunder; evincar's justice in black. I had no idea dakmor plague was a card, but there is also famine and sickening dreams...

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

Brainstorm session! Did a gruul search on gatherer, to see what directions the cards suggested. It just seems like a very midrangy color combination, and it probably makes more sense to just accept it for what it is, and come up with a few different styles of midrange for it to inhabit. Wide...

    The Penny Pincher Cube (360)

hmmm...these are some good ideas. Otherworldly journey really jumps out at me as a powerful card. Not only does it interact with the other +1 +1 counter cards, but it can target any creature. I can see that leading to all sorts of interesting interactions. Voyager staff also seems like a...

Too stronk. Ghostly flicker is already degenerate enough, lol. ------ Also, have to remember a few more cards for the sidelines: elvish visionary distant melody If I learned anything from last week, its that cheap value cantrips like phyrexian rager feel a lot better when you are trying...

    [Feedback/Tuning] SOMROE (Fantasy Set)

Generator servant was always a card for us, that was solid but never felt broken. Kruin striker is an interesting possibility. I think cards like that are strongest where they get at least one turn to crack in without interference, and once creatures start to hit the board they become pretty...
