    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

Oh wow. I'm excited for Retreat to Coralhelm. It reminds me of Monastery Siege but with this one you don't have to choose just one of the modes upfront (and be stuck with that choice). That is what kept Monastery Siege down IMO.

Is that really true though? How many 3 drops have 4/4 stats? Most 3's have ETB or other mechanics that make up for the (typically) weak body. But what if you just need some beef? 4/4's push through most (all?) walls and they are decent clocks too. They generally demand an answer (and are out of...

    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

That's one way to look at Endless One. The other is to think of it as a creature you play when it makes the most sense. There are a lot of cards in cube you can hold and get more value out of later, but that's part of the game (knowing when "less is more" essentially). Cards like Pelakka Wurm...

Only wanted to comment on this part specifically. Not all groups have the same mindset. I game with a couple ex-Magic players and a bunch of others who thinks it's a fun diversion but nothing more. While I can appreciate what you are saying here, if I were to go full tough love on my playgroup...

    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

The only thing that intrigues me about Endless One is the fact that it can go in any deck at any CC. So it's not just filler, it's like the ultimate filler card. Not sure how drafts go with you groups, but suboptimal deck lists happen often enough to where I can see guys grabbing this to...

    General Fight Club

I run all of those (except Detention Sphere which I hate). But a card I really want would be something like: Murdering Spree Sorcery Destroy target non-token creature and all token creatures target player controls. Against non-token decks, it's just murder. But against tokens, it's...

Sever the Bloodline is the right idea. Something a bit more pushed and I'd run that in a heartbeat.

    General Fight Club

Pyroclasm is a great card. But it's narrow and it doesn't avoid the "too many sweepers" problem. And it hurts most creature based decks, not just tokens. In fact, it hurts those other decks more usually since this is a 2 for 1 against them a lot times where it might not be against tokens...

    Card/Deck The Simic Combine

Green overlaps here with several themes now (at least in my new cube), And I'm pretty happy with how that is playing. +1/+1 counters (Lorescale Coatl - though I will likely replace that with the new flying Elf; Master Biomancer) Blink (Mystic Snake) Tempo/tokens/general creature support (Edric...

    General Fight Club

Yeah. I've had a blind spot for this problem I think because I love blink decks. But I'm doing the same thing now - cutting back on a lot of the blink effects. These decks don't need many to be very competitive because the base power level of these cards is already high (ETB cards in particular).

    General Fight Club

To me, a card like Dictate of Heliod is a classic white anthem effect (for that reason alone I want to run it). And it's powerful enough to be an incentive for token decks too. So I think you can argue it isn't just in my cube at least for power reasons. On the flip side of the coin, token...

Dictate is crazy good. I really like it. Many times a +2/+2 effect is sooooo much more relevant than +1/+1. It's the sole reason Citadel Siege is playable.

    General Matters of Estate

I'd add Cultivate and Kodama's Reach, as well as Sakura-Tribe Elder. You might consider the bouncelands too. Depending on power level, maybe you can get Worm Harvest to work (it was just too lower powered over here but a hugely land centric themed cube could run it as incidental support I...

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

Tango plus morph seems like a good fit to me. T3 is the first turn you can get them into play untapped, which is the first turn you can play a morph. Feels like a perfect union to me.

In most decks, skyrider won't be more than a 3/3 and you won't get that until T4 or later. So while it's cool, I don't think that is worth a gold slot personally.

I like that green 6 a lot. Definitely going to try and find room for it.

Life loss is probably the correct direction to take this. It's an established mechanic that will work well. Playing devil's advocate though, I think a life loss rider will favor aggro over control. If you are the beatdown, you generally could give a damn what your life total is. It's a...

Regarding Exile/Draw... There is one potential negative that did come up in my testing that in my excitement (i.e. drinking too much of my own kool-aid) I forgot to mention. That has to do with finding answers, specifically "silver bullet" type answers. Take the classic aggro/control matchup...

As far as nicknames go, I'm really liking Turbo Bacon too. Makes me want to run that card just because. I'm running Burning-Tree Shaman out of nostalgia and the fact that I love the art. But I'd replace him if there was a stellar card at this CC. Ram Gang is fine, but I'm not as excited about...
