Card/Deck Balance: Reasonably Efficient Non-Etb Creatures?

Monstrous is another good angle for this thread, speaking of Polukranos. One I've seen in some lists is arbor colossus If youre ok with rando protection clauses, there's also: stormbreath dragon Which brings up another interesting angle: haste. Haste let's the creature at least move to combat...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Sweet decks :). Can't help but noticed that they seemed to have struggled a little in match score. Is the deck simply a "Tier 2" deck, or it was just badly positioned those days? Interested to hear thoughts on that.

Tombstalker does what's it's meant to do cleanly and efficiently. I find myself being very fond of it for that. Cubes are incredibly decision-dense places, so having a card like Tombstalker or 2 can really be nice. See Cube Elegance thread for what I'm getting at. Also the reasonably balanced...

Card/Deck Balance: Reasonably Efficient Non-Etb Creatures?

Don't forget about guys with activated abilities instead of ETBs. The soul cycle is a poster child cycle for this: soul of Theros Soul of ravnica Soul of innistrad Soul of shandalar Soul of zendikar They can still gain advantage even through removal, but it incurs velocity loss and is thus more...

I love it, but my power level is a little lower. Wombo combo with Snapcaster Mage, but also good with stuff like Wall of Omens and Lone Missionary. And counter draw is always cool

Tried it out for a while and never really found its rhythm. Whirler Rogue and P&K by themselves might help its inclusion, tho.... One of the big issues I found was having artifacts and having them in an faster, attacking-style deck. Speaking of cool artifact build-arounds.... Clues, thopters...

Sets [EMA] Eternal Masters Spoilers Thread

A good analysis! I think its hard pressed for me to want to open this set just for opening it. They tried hard enough to make it a worthwhile set to draft, drafting it definitely seems the best way to open EMA and generate value. Largely also because the 10 dollar MSRP already isn't holding up...

Agree with Peter, just running Day of Judgment, for instance, seems fine. And while I do like Ojutai, I'm pretty big on brago, king eternal (who I notice you already have). Seeing that you have quite a few creatures in Azorius already.... For non-creature spells, I switched out verdict for...

Sets [EMA] Eternal Masters Spoilers Thread

A lot of rarity shifts for limited play, and that might have been mistakes before. Agree that it is a little jarring to see. Interesting that with all the pomp of the set, we get one fixing cycle, and it's the common gain lands.

Really hard to beat fire // ice. Turn // Burn seems to be a little better, or cooler at least, in a heavily creature-focused format, where 2 for 1's would be a little more common. sensei's divining top v.

Can't be sure yet with so few spoilers, of course, but seems like they are putting plenty of poison-y drafting into this set. Find one elf -> find more elves. Also check out that Top tho. Mobile and pictures aren't friends, or I'd put it...

Sets [EMA] Eternal Masters Spoilers Thread

Well, it's definitely a set designed for draft, that's for sure. Loving the art, and the foil prospects, but wouldn't exactly be thrilled to open this uncommon as my rare. Worldgorger Dragon even worse at Mythic! Edit: I almost died when I saw the Etutor art. Idyllic Tutor book! Ahhh. My D&T...

    Obliterate Cube

Hello and welcome :). Hopefully one of the staff can shift this thread over to the Blogs thread, where you can happily maintain this as your own cube design space. But little details like thread placement are not super important. What's important is that this is a unique and cool concept! It...

Definitely agree with this. I'd go so far to say it's a nigh-indefensible statement. As you say, overly broad, and potentially patently false. How is adding a tuning-dial (varying the # of one card) making something less balance-able? If anything this article has gotten me maybe more pumped for...

    General Planeswalker Deck design challenge!

Safra is right in that it seems like a fun effect, especially for the decks you are designing for. All I'll say more on it is that I think you are underestimating the "leyline" effect some, and this leyline ultra synergizes with its own abilities. Start with it in your hand? Free exploration...

    General Planeswalker Deck design challenge!

Not really. There's already a card that does basically only the Exploration part, costed {g}{g}, without all the secondary effects. And the Leyline effect! Free T0 leyline of extra forests??

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I'm glad you are on board with trying it, I think its a little gem waiting to be playtested. Some points I just have a burning urge to get across: Splitting a mana cost is almost always better than the cost all as one. Being able to run out thraben inspector T1 is a big deal against, say, an...
