Fair trade, but giving them a Mountain instead of an artifact can be a bad deal for you. Why not give them a treasure instead? Or make it treasure for artifact, and/or Mountain for non basic.

I found this Tezz just a bit too much in my cube when it worked, and not good enough when it didn't. I think Daretti is better, simply because it's cheaper? I don't know though, never played with it. I actually like (in my cube, which looks comparable): Tezzeret the Schemer

I think that's more a problem with your friend than with the format. Not that Sol Ring isn't degenerate.

As an addendum to my already long post above, it's probably fair to say that WotC embracing the format and catering to it with specialized product has been both a blessing and a curse. For sure the player base has grown, but the reprints and new cards in them have been hit and miss.

What more do you want to be said about a card draw spell. It's fairly straightforward. Other than the "look at target player's hand" part and the mana cost, which were already pointed out, there isn't much to add I think?
