Yay storytelling! As a kid I'd play the ps1 version just to pass the time and scratch a creative itch, but I've come back to the latest one and found its a fantastic vehicle for storytelling. You can squeeze so much out of a written scene when you add visuals, sounds, and player control.

I love that idea. MTGS runs traditional 8-person drafts very occasionally too, with a neutral party posting the packs and managing the draft.

I'll pick the modal spell every time. Modal spells are amazing. But power level can definitely be a concern here, so if the confluence is too strong for your format, don't use it.
