All of the original Ravnica dual lands have good art, but the printing process made them all look “grainy,” which I don’t like. The RTR lands are cleaner and more colorful for the most part, which I enjoy.

Honestly, I think it's because the point of the special frames is to look cool more than be functional. I don't think WOTC was initially expecting people to just use alternate frame cards in their deck when they started doing these back in 2015, especially given the fact that they were rarer...

I mean, they're basically just keywording clockspinning for a deck that is full of that effect. Is that really worse than writing out "For each suspended card you own and each permanent you control with a time counter on it, you may add or remove a time counter" on two dozen or so cards?
