General [Contest] Ravnica Reimagined (Entry Closed - Judging Complete!)

One of the other big issues with Radiance was the mirror. Your board might be safe if you cleansing beam their saprolings, but if you needed to kill Sylesnya Guildmage, you probably hit a few of your own as well. Also possibly the least boros feeling mechanic ever :P

I know you don't mean this with that level of specificity, but the idea of a creature - fish detective makes me laugh :P

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Yeah Hope of Ggurapur has a lot in common with Xantid Swarm or Silence: if you see it across the table, you know they're doing something degenerate

    General Fight Club

Yeah Ophiomancer clears the "good on it's own" bar, but this was initially about gravecrawler Rant incoming: Now in terms of this, the thing I hate about gravecrawler is it makes an already insular deck even more insular. All an aristocrats player wants is exactly goblin bombardment, and black...

Jadar never really cleared the "Playable on its own with synergy upside" for me, was extremely medium.

I feel ya. Some people love the constancy of something like Brood War or Chess or Smash Melee. I think they're crazy, but they're entitled to their opinion.

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

So @safra posted on the cube talk discord today something I found really interesting: Here's her #1, and I agree, this would lose a lot if you fell into magic's usual branding truisms (quoting someone, cracking a joke, elvish expression meaning "to do a thing" which ends up being longer than...

My dad learned loooooooong ago that he has no idea how to get what I might want even if it was explained to him :P

Pokemon TCG: the budget Vintage you didn't know existed

There is an excellent game boy color game for the 1999s era format if you're chasing the feeling rather than the camaraderie: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Trading_Card_Game_(video_game)

I think you're doomed to imperfection, not failure, and those are not the same thing. Pick one and give it a shot

    Sets (PIP) Fallout Commander Previews

Yes, and then you have to pay the (somewhat) variable cost of the top card of your library, or lose it. Like yeah, it's a simple problem to solve, but this does produce more varied outcomes than most trinkets, is what I'm saying

    Sets (PIP) Fallout Commander Previews

I mean the cost is the card, right? Like that's why these don't have activation costs It certainly has a lot more variance than clues or blood, which (IIRC) people like about maps

    General Gate Format Musings

Is your goal to have people with 17 cave manabases? The payoff for that has to be pretty high for people to want to do it if they have a basic landbox, but you can just make a desert cube if you want to force people into that situation

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Yeah I for one am happy to finally have a green interactive spell that I can cast without fear of my opponent 2-for-1ing me into last week, and that can flexibly be used to counter a removal spell if that's what the game needs from you. If you can only imagine this card being played against you...
