Isn't there some alchemy burn spell that basically puts finality counters on your opponents team? Edit: found it! BEHOLD! A PAPER CARD! (Yes I know perpetually lasts if it gets bounced/flickered/whatever and finality counters don't, it's fine)

"Once each turn" also helps over "the first time each turn" as the latter counts events that happen before you played the creature for eg: Gain Life > Play Cleric of Life's Bond > Gain a life Doesn't Work the way you want it to, whereas "triggers once" would.

This is also kinda a design knock against the enchantment creatures, as there's little singling them out other than flavor, which can go either way.

I will say I probably don't want a 4/4 for 1gg anymore, as it's not particularly interesting. Before I was pretty frustrated I'd wanted something other than troll ascetic because my cube was big enough, and smiter just had the wrong kinds of upsides for me. Felt frustrated when I felt that green...
