General "Sacred Cow" or "Cube Staple"

Heh heh. I think that, like you, FSR, I'm not much of a Johnny at heart. I don't really dig complicated shenanigans that take multiple pieces and multiple eons to set up. But.. I have a bit of a soft spot for graveyard antics. Digging through your deck for fatties that you have no way to...

General "Sacred Cow" or "Cube Staple"

Blood Artist is as close to a staple as it gets for me. I like your new definition of staple, though. It's more about the unique build-arounds that slot into multiple archetypes than the cards that are categorically, hands down, the best. In that sense, I agree with Suicufnoc - those shock...

General "Sacred Cow" or "Cube Staple"

I agree that there aren't any cards that I would consider staples. Heck, I've cut Lightning Bolt (to make room for Volcanic Hammer!), and while very few people here agree with me on this, I feel like it's improved my drafting environment. Among the other cards I've axed that might be considered...

General Drafting with 6 or fewer players

With six, we do four packs of 11, and I think everybody's been pleased with that. I haven't run as many four and five man drafts, but I recall doing five packs of 9 at one point with a very small crew. If you're sufficiently curious, I think you could explore variant formats when you get as...

    Sets Journey to Nyx Spoilers

Agreed! I never want a six drop in my aggro decks, but I can usually find room to squeeze in one or two fives. Not requiring two colours is huge, too. The ability to drop it down during your combat step after blocks are declared is a nice bonus, though I have no idea how relevant that part'll be.

    Sets Journey to Nyx Spoilers

Well, uh.. a permanent anthem is a big step up from a one-shot global buff. I mean, this was a card in both Block and Standard a few seasons ago... Tempered Steel

Was anyone looking for a white Overrun? Hmmm. Just me? ...carry on.

    Site Maintenance

We'll be undergoing some site maintenance over the next day or two to make some changes with our hosting provider. There may be intermittent site outages as a result. We should hopefully be back at full capacity soon.

    Sets Journey to Nyx Spoilers

Perhaps I'm the only one, but this is the card I'm by far the most excited to try out. Phantasmal Image-style shenanigans, without the annoying need for an opponent to target the copy to get rid of it? Two mana copying, in red? The ability to scale and act as a mana sink? Sign me up.

    Sets Journey to Nyx Spoilers

This seems like the ultimate Timmy card. My 13 year old self would have loved this. ...I think I'm going to try cubing it. Athreos seems fine, but as with many punisher cards, I suspect he reads stronger than he plays. That is about as good anti-Wrath protection as it gets, though. With him...

    Sets Journey to Nyx Spoilers

Ridiculous casting cost aside, I think this is a really sweet, flavourful implementation of a Sower of Temptation-style siren. That it had to be rare and seven mana (!) is a bit unfortunate, but I bet it's still pretty decent in sealed.

    CML's Cube (405, polychromatic)

Yup, even having seen only a quarter of the set, I'm excited about Journey Into Nyx way more than I was for Born of the Gods. Strive being 'unoriginal' or 'just multikicker' doesn't concern me too much, provided we get some sweet ass cards out of the mechanic. Cheap, downside bestow cards are...
