I think the second Blue and White ones are up for debate. At this point Planeswalker selection is pretty wide open, depending on what you're trying to support. They're printing what, 9 new ones a year? I guess more with the Commander PWs.

Yeah, lifegain theme definitely has less oomph to it than sac-theme. It would be fine if Pridemate were a bit better by default and needed less support. But there's not a very wide range there. Like, if it were a 3/2 or something. Or if there were other cards with incidental lifegain riders...

There are lots of things that are dangerous to power out early for free. Early Gideon into anything is pretty backbreaking.

He can be, but he's generally pretty underwhelming / sets yourself up for blowouts. Unless you're sac'ing something that comes back, usually you're paying 3 mana to add like 2 power to the board.
