    Dom's Cube(s)

Yeah, it's possible some of this will have to be scaled back a bit, but it's hard for control decks to work if you can't draft a bunch of powerful cards. Any ideas for other shards/wedges?

    Dom's Cube(s)

Ok, another probably-failed ground-up redesign incoming. I tried the approach of assigning each colour pair a theme/strategy and building from there, but it was hard not to end up with a bunch of isolated subsets of cards that never really interacted with each other. Instead I'm going to try...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

No. Explore is a card I want in any and all of my non-aggressive green decks. Spinning Darkness is too little too late by the time you can reliably activate it - it can't kill late game threats but is also bad against aggressive creatures.

    Sets [M15] Magic 2015 Spoilers

These cards are strange and not in a way I like. That said, Return to the Ranks is awesome.

    Card/Deck Astral Slide

I've seen a few people on VMA-highs wish that Slide were a thing in Cube, and CML mentioned considering it for the article contest a while back, so here we go. Astral SlideAstral Slide The obvious place to start is the cycling lands, which are essentially free for deckbuilding and add a lot...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Boom // Bust For those of you running lots of fetchlands I would definitely give this card a try. Also, as part of my recent 'cut all the aggro cards and replace them with gold cards' kick, I've been liking: Sedraxis Specter

General Two Thoughts on Cube Design

I like most of this. I would caution that, while players indeed mostly don't give a fuck about the structure of the Cube, you have to be somewhat aware of the expectations that a perceptive drafter is going to have/acquire. As designers we're omniscient regarding the contents of our Cubes, and...

    General Battle Box

Early thoughts: - With guaranteed land drops each turn your hand fills up very quickly, so you need a lot of cheap cards to a. dump your hand more quickly, b. have more decisions to make on any given turn, and c. ensure your basics/Guildgate sequencing actually matters (e.g. if you have...

    Card/Deck Brainstorm as a lynchpin

I love Courser. I just love lands in general, especially anything that lets me play extra lands or lands from different (/erogenous) zones. Oracle of Mul Daya is delightful. Halimar Depths for the land draft? Valakut with Prismatic Omen or Scapeshift in the Cube?

Play Lavamancer with the Torment art, play Spikeshot Elder too (it's got a lot better with Bestow if that's your thing)

    Card/Deck The Heartbeat Deck

Capsize is clunky and slow unless it's absolutely dominating, which makes it really awkward either way. Genesis Wave is a really fun card, but I'm wary of including the less powerful X spells or the really expensive mana sinks (Eldrazi) when they don't fit in normal control decks.
