    Eric Chan's Modern cube (405)

Ew, flamebreak. I can't imagine any deck able to cast it wanting to cast it.

Apparently somebody left a new comment on my original "Cube Fallacy" article today. That was kind of neat.

I love love love Pyroclasm. Is there a compelling reason to cut it?

General [Format Discussion] Modern Masters is Totally Incredible

Yeah, I opened a Pardic Dragon and was like "this thing can only be hardcast". Then in the next pack I discovered Fury Charm is in the set. Fury Charm was also in my deck against the Artifact deck. Which would have been useful, but T3 Trygon Predator plague-winded his board and I ended the game...

General [Format Discussion] Modern Masters is Totally Incredible

Finally had the chance to draft MM. I pretty much ignored all the themes of the set and drafted a RUG value deck with: 2 Kitchen Finks 2 Trygon Predator Murderous Redcap Eternal Witness 2 Tribal Flames 3 Rift Bolt 3 On-color Vivid lands I went 2 - 1, losing to WB Rebels. Thoughts: The...

Bonzo cube (360, unpowered, 2-4 player)

Hi Alfonzo, this sounds really good. I think you touched on some great points here, mainly the difference between two-player drafting and full table drafting. Two player decks are always slower, so I don't see an issue with including lands like Vivids and Shard lands that there will actually be...

    Article ChannelFireball: Declassified Information

I've had an article related to this in mind, but I'm a little burned out on content at the moment. Maybe in 3 weeks when it's time for me to write my next one. But I'll probably just write about the Eldrazi Domain cube instead. We'll see.

    General Store Owned Cube

So, my solution to this is to cube on nights when there aren't other Magic events going on at the store. When I host a draft I'm actually bringing in traffic, and said traffic buys lots of drinks when they're there. This way I don't feel like I'm taking away from the store's business. Of course...

Maybe it's just my unnatural love for burn + card advantage spells, but I really enjoy playing with those four "strong" Izzet spells.

Yeah, I mean, 4/5 of those seem strong, no idea bout the Cyclops.

How many Izzet cards are you running? My sections sizes are mostly consistent (~ 3 per guild, with some wiggle room, e.g. Far // Away as the 4th Dimir), so I don't really have to run any "bad" Izzet cards.

    RipLab Marketing

Hey Justin, thanks for your enthusiasm! I'm not terribly active on Facebook, at least not in a Magic sense, so I'm not really aware of the various groups that exist. I will say that anything that pushes the cube community in a more positive direction is a good thing in my book. I'll be sure to...

It's less that you have to drop it but more than you need to be aware of it. The right density of gold cards depends on a lot of different variables. Mono hybrid is fine in my book (I do it myself, technically), but the real issue is controlling your low demand (i.e. gold) cards.

    General Store Owned Cube

Hi Bryan! Welcome to the site! As far as a store-owned cube goes, I don't see any compelling reason for it to be one type of cube or another. Are you building this exclusively from cards from your local store's inventory? What I would be most concerned about when talking to a store owner is...

    Article ChannelFireball: Declassified Information

Yes, I agree, it's not really relevant for cube design. It's still useful to be aware of how it affects the dynamic. E.g. if you're trying to push more multicolor aggro, you might want more cards in the vein of Rakdos Cackler.

General I actually played magic this weekend.

Daze and Spell Pierce are fantastic. At least here.

Part of the idea of too much hybrid is that you can't actually cut card space. I don't think draft would be all that great if all the cards were colorless.
