    General Fight Club

I cube with both people who try to eke out every tiny bit of advantage they can on every possible decision, and people who are just now discovering the concept of reading for the first time (I love all of them I promise). Fact or Fiction (And Sphinx of Uthuun) have absolutely tarpitted our EDH...

    General Fight Club

This got me to double take. Maybe it's just coming from memories of constructed formats and having never resolved a Gifts or Intuition in an unpowered cube, but I've always found FoF to be slower to resolve. Like, Gifts/Intuition, you're thinking about piles when you draft and build your deck...

General Archetype suggestions for a Lands Matter cube?

That does work pretty well with the twiddles for extra stationing too, that's sick.

General Archetype suggestions for a Lands Matter cube?

Oh shit yeah we aren't rarity restricted, you can just play like Coffers and Academy. Yeah I'm doubling down on Petal/Twiddle Storm as a suggestion.

General Archetype suggestions for a Lands Matter cube?

Speaking of Storm, there's also the old pauper Petal Storm deck? Enchant a single land or Karoo with a bunch of Fertile Ground effects, then Splice Psychic Puppetry onto Petals of Insight to generate arbitrary amounts of mana, arbitrary storm count, and reorder your whole deck into the bargain...

    General Fight Club

I had this exact experience when the EOC bicycles got spoiled, because the ONS cyclers felt so narrow to me. I ended up cutting them, but I've missed them - The Loam decks can't really do 'the thing' off 2-mana cyclers at all, it's harder to squeak in an Astral Slide trigger, etc. The Ux control...

    General CBS

I think its about activation cost for the effect/how much the effect is naturally signposted during the game. Like, I've never had a bad beats story involving Celestial Colonnade - someone looking at six untapped lands is going to expect something, and hopefully then looks at the number of cards...

General Archetype suggestions for a Lands Matter cube?

If you're running some hate like Ruination, From the Ashes is an amazing hate piece that also works as a combo enabler. Wiping your own non-basics to fetch untapped basics means it does a terrible Scapeshift impression, acts as a ritual, and fills the yard for Splendid Reclamation effects. It's...

General Archetype suggestions for a Lands Matter cube?

You'll probably end up running Life from the Loam because it's a sweet lands card, and that says one thing to me: Cycling lands. While I would then immediately run Astral Slide, there are other ways to synergize with an abundance of cycling lands. Discard-matters effects are really plentiful...

    General From exile

I run both Pia and Faldorn as 'Madness' payoffs that happen to work with the like, 3 impulse draws I also cube, and Vega with the Flashback/Retrace/Jump-Start stuff I'd also be running anyway, and honestly that's been enough at my power level. Pia has been the worst of the three because there's...

General Ideas for a Necrotic Ooze Cube

Love the 'Only basic Swamps' idea. Rather than drafting lands for off-colour mana, what about having to use the Ooze for it? Plenty of dorks, maybe even some of the mana filters like Blood Celebrant/Abzan Devotee/Gravestone Strider, or true dorks like Blightsoil Druid and DRS. As far as cards...

My bet is Simic - Strong Overbeing of Myth vibes to me, plus the colours of the celestial bodies in the background.

Cube Update! So it's been a hot minute since my last update. Something about having a baby does eat into time available to write pages of nonsense about Magic. Still, we've gotten quite a few reps in with the cube over the past... year!? (where does the time go!?). Not just drafting this with...

    Card/Deck Golem Tribal

I have a bunch of the "choose a type, get a buff", most of the time used to help out Merfolk, Humans or Wolves, but you can totally pick Golem and have it work if the draft goes that way. There are a lot of incidental Golems. Same for Constructs, but I don't have as many of those any more.

    Card/Deck Golem Tribal

Precursor Golem It's colourless, and it has two triggered abilities to double with the throne. I even ran this once upon a time, in a lower power version of my list with Splicers and "Construct == Golem" (For all the draft matters Constructs in Conspiracy). I absolutely 100% recommend not...

    General CBS

Can't make broad sweeping generalizations, don't have the data. Anecdotally the only people I know who've picked up UB stuff were already MTG players, and while I have friends who are megafans of other IPs that have gotten the UB treatment (Street Fighter, LoTR, Doctor Who and now Fallout) the...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Can't help with the first part as I'm a novice with CC myself, but a Cube is a collection of cards used to create a custom draft environment - rather than buying booster packs for a draft, you make your own out of cards from your own collection! If you like the idea, there are plenty of...

    General New Booster

I can't speak about global trends or the new player experience or the appeal of cracking packs "for value". The only data I have is the following: - When drafts started costing more than $20 back in 2016-ish, player numbers at my then FLGS dropped and never recovered. We filled out multiple...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Not to be a pedant, but as a native speaker, I believe in this case "which" is correct. If it was one specific danger, "that" would be correct. In the case of multiple diverse dangers, it's "which". To be fair, no one cares about that any more and "that" wouldn't cause me to bat an eye but I do...
