I can concieve of some strange value engine living weapon that gives the creature deathtouch, and emulates recurring nightmare in some way being something EDH players want, but it's shitty enough compared to actual recurring nightmare we'd want it.

If not, I'm fucking making it

Lashwrithe is actually pretty good if you support that kind of thing.

Equipment in general has proved to be hard to design at a medium-strong power level. Designs like Sword of the Animist give me hope, though.

How does this work? Is the regular damage still applied? Their life is halved after regular damage?

Yeah, it's worded like any other combat damage trigger so it'd just go on the stack and half them when it resolves.

Get all their attacking creatures EtB effects and death triggers (or at least, LtB effects), while also blowing up most creatures they'd attack with? Upside is definitely there.

Downside is if they have anthems, pump effects, +1/+1 counters, auras, or toughness>power. Worst case is a six mana Fog.

Could be good, but very swingy. I'm not sure what blue sixes I would cut to make room for it.

Today it's definitely ups! Have you seen the rest of this night's (for me anyway) spoilers? Spider-fog, Magus of the Wheel, Mizzix's Mastery and Great Oak Guardian all look swell!

Magus of the Wheel sacrifices itself for a Wheel of Fortune. Super cool effect on a red three-drop. The base stats are decent enough, and it's always nice to see red do something else besides direct damage

The treefolk is interesting, an overrun that can surprise block as well.
