I mean, when you boil down to it, it's about parasitic/linear mechanics, right?

For (maybe interesting?) context, Scars has an as-fan of poison of 1.2. To get that in cube, 8.5% of your cards need to have poison, which is what, 30 cards (in a 360 cube), which is maybe two drafters. That's not counting proliferate, which would contribute another 6 cards if taken directly from scars numbers.

Uh, I don't know if linear really applies, but, parasitic, yes. Mechanically isolated. Proliferate was an attempt to tie the Poison and Metalcraft themes together, but I don't think it was particularly effective.

I haven't clicked that link but I feel I know exactly who he is, what that topic is, and what he'll say.

EDIT: I find 'the cube' an infuriating phrase

Well I've never been an MTGSer so I don't really give a hoot either way. I opened the article, noticed that I really like the phrase "Kiora the Explorer" and then closed it because I guess I just don't care *waves hands in the air*

I no longer read MTGS anymore. I feel like I've escaped from an abusive relationship.

When I first left I still had the desire to click on it every once and a while, but I honestly haven't been there in over 6 months. I think I logged in once to get the PM that Eric sent me that got the whole RiptideLab process started, so I could talk about it on a chatcast.

I do think the quality of my writing was better when I hung around MTGS and just lampooned their ideas every article, but the quality of my life and mental health has greatly improved since leaving there.

I'm sure I'll hit 30k posts here eventually. But, my density of posts relative to the total activity here has gone way down. I'm under 25% of our total posts now, and declining!

I'm almost afraid to click that link.

edit: Yup, I knew Reckless Reveler was good enough for top ten in the set. I mean, what are cubers really looking for more than a functional Torch Fiend reprint? Vindicated!

edit 2: Whaaaaaaat no love for Satyr Wayfinder? This is totally a card that you could run in cubes that are 917 cards or higher.

Excitement over functional reprints has to be the funniest thing ever.

Considering for my set review: "If you're more excited about the printing of Reckless Reveler than the printings of Revoke Existence and Springleaf Drum, perhaps it's time for a psychiatric evaluation."

Oh god it's such fun watching the power max guys squirm trying to review this set when they're locked into their formula :p

Man do I hate the power max mind set. What is the damn point of that anyway?

I kept banging my head against a wall arguing against that philosophy, but it was a futile exercise as no one over there is interested in different ideas from my experience (and the few that were either got banned or just don't post there anymore). I still visit and make posts, but I've given arguing with people.

Reading that set review...

Astral Cornucopia is called the porn horn? First I've heard.

Herald of Torment isn't great? At 3, 3/3 flying is scary, especially when you can give it to something else. Why does he like Deglamer and Torch Fiend more than this?

His Pain Seer and Spirit of the Labyrinth analyses were pretty good. The pros/cons are well written.

So nothing but Brimaz the "Oreo King" is really worth a slot in his opinion. Where do they come up with these nicknames?

I think because it has XXX in its cost. I will never call it this.
EDIT: To be clear, I didn't actually click the link so this is mere speculation.

There are so many real cards that would get dumped on if they were custom cards. Perhaps the biggest perpetrator is Deathrite Shaman? That's actually a good question...
