I think you will regret this decision if you follow through on this.

Not only are you locking yourself out from all the rare cards that gets spoiled that doesn’t have an alt art. You are also doing the same to commons and uncommons alt art variants. I also believe that it doesn’t signal very well to the players. Don’t know if that is your intend.

Finally.. if you’re simply going to divide the cards are rarity then they already have a clear sign on the card: the set symbol color. I was thinking the solution to mark your cards was only relevant if you deviate from rarity splits.
You are probably right that it wouldn't be a robust solution.

I also agree that using native rarity would be ideal, but I was looking for ways to avoid constraining myself with it.

Thanks, extra markers on inner sleeves makes a lot of sense. Colours + shapes is a good combo for maximum readiblity, and nothing on commons is a very sensible effort saving! I wasn't intending to have rares and mythics at different frequencies, but the different treatment idea is very cool! It would be neat if you could do it without dots or other additional components - commons get nothing, uncommons are foil, rares get alt art? They do enough reprints that you could maybe use old border/new border as a distinction.
Inner sleeve markings do work well, just take into account color blindness and don’t use just color to convey the difference. Commons could get a black 4, uncommons a silver 2, rares a gold 1, and mythics a gold star/asterisk. Easy as pie and super clear (provided your handwriting is legible :p)!

It is not :(

Not worth a thread on its own, but the full Innistrad Remastered spoiler is up!

Extraordinarily happy they're continuing to add cards with the retro frame. There are 13 cards I Cube with that are in this style that I'll be updating, and I'm particularly thrilled about:

I also really like the new Bedlam Reveler art:

That said, I'm annoyed that there's no reminder text yet again on any of the retro borders. These two are the most upsetting/egregious:

Collective Brutality is reasonably my only representation of Escalate. It's not a very well-known mechanic!!

I only have 1 other card that makes Blood tokens, and having Voldaren Epicure already feels like quite a stretch as a result. It's bad enough to have a unique token for such a low number of cards, but it's even worse that the version I want to play doesn't explain what it is! My group does not know every single one-off mechanic. Stupid.

as someone that's been away from the game and come back, despite how much i like the look of old border cards, i think printing new style templating on old border cards is confusing and leads to comprehension issues. like for me i try to parse it like a card from back then, and that doesnt work. i know i cant be alone in this

Crowdsourcing this one: Give me things that work with Up the Beanstalk!

Already thought of and thus checked:
pitch spells/alt cost spells, suspend, impending, evoke, flashback (think Roar of the Wurm), emerge, delve, adventure, Embercleave (it's in for entirely different reasons so it's funny)

but I'm sure I'm not only missing cards, but missing ones that will result in my slapping my forehead!

Same boat, mate. I'm getting a little mad ove rthis every time they do retro frames now, especially since it had been different for TSR. That being said, for me it's mostly just Voldaren Epicure that I can't upgrade because I want reminder text for blood.

I am upgrading these four for my CCC.

I wont make the switch for Rise from the Tides as I have an altered version of it.

Relevant ones in my list without the listed keywords:

Plus some emerge, delve, suspend and such. Also relevant although you can't cast them for cheaper:

and are a pair of keywords you've missed.

And there's always Dream Halls if you want to get really crazy with it.

Another possibility (which honestly might be on the "fairer" side of things):

On the one hand, you do need to actually spend 5 mana to trigger the card draw. On the other hand, X spells just fit wherever on the curve.

+1 for Mawloc, I run it, and it's awesome!
