Who else runs this? Which (gold?) instants and sorceries are the sickest to double? I had an RB Toshiro Goggles deck in sealed that was amaaaaaaazing (i cast terminate four times in one game) and a few cubetutor drafts where Ral looked neat:

I run it! The sickest targets in my cube are probably...

Plus two custom awaken spells in red (Volcanic Hammer with awaken 3 - {5}{R} and make two flying Thopters + 1 damage for {2}{W}, awaken 4 - {4}{R}{R}. Oh, and there's an instant fuse split card that can grant +3/+3 to your team for {2}{R}{G}{W}. Instant +6/+6 sounds pretty scary...

But seriously, you cool cats who run Pyromancer's Goggles, not only is it cool, but is it good? Is it worth spending an entire turn to cast? I'm definitely interested.

Edit: How do you think it would be at 4 mana?

Considering that the flashback on Firebolt is a genuine thing, forking a simple Shock is already worth it. Once you start copying crazy shit like the aforementioned cards the value of teh Goggles skyrockets.

Goggles is cool, but you had better have a really good follow-up with the next red spell you play. My cube is too punishing for T5 durdling. I have goggled in EDH though, which was super fun. Tormenting Voice in Magmatic Insight on successive turns was pretty filthy. Discard a land and another card, draw 8?

I think this line of reasoning is a bit of a trap. Firebolt is awesome because you get a shock now and the option on an expensive shock later. It's also awesome because you get that out of a single card. Goggles does neither of these.

I wish the card were good but I'm just not seeing it. At 3 mana (and my power level) I maybe start considering it, but even then it's no isochron

Kinda reminds me of mirari's wake. 5 mana special mana rock that puts colour constraints on you and does something kinda nice if you are under specific circumstances.

My go to plans for big red are usually wildfire or like dragons and bolt and earthquake in some other decks shell. Pyromaster and sarkhan count as dragons right?
