General "Looking for a card"-Thread

I'm looking for cool 4-mana white creatures that aren't Emeria Angel. It's not a slot that is seeing a lot of action so feel free to make any suggestions.

My cube has 0 overlap with both of these list. I can present some lower powered options I like.

My all time favorite has to be Galepowder Mage. It's a good sized evasive beater that needs no support bit comes with lots of synergy potential. Also, to this day I am still not sure what is going on in his artwork lol.

Galepowder Mage is just riding around on his powder-bongo bird friend seeding future generations of powder-bongo bird eggs, what's not to get?

More bird friends!

Armored Skyhunter might be good? I haven't had the chance to test it. A 3/3 for 4 with flying is decent, and if you can rip a decent equipment off the top of your deck it's going really well. The only trouble is how it dies to removal, but if Galepowder Mage is good enough then this might be too, despite requiring more synergy.

MmmmmmMMmmm good cards.
I was hoping to list off like 10 awesome cards but I forgot how shallow White 4s are :(

Luckily, I think this new White 4-drop card is cool and will be great when Kaldheim drops:

Pssh! You are shallow! :p (Kidding of course ;))

Honestly though, we just gave 37 suggestions between us at varying power levels, and we haven't even come close to exhausting the list!

Card advantage!

Tokens!

Planeswalkers that make tokens!

Random shit!

I think I can only include 20 images...

Cubecobra has a search function that can let you search cards by their elo rating. I thought it would be cool to try that for white 4 drop creatures and here were the top 5:

I hope this is what you were after :p
(Small sample sizes really screw things over)

When I read the question at the top of this page I really got on fire, wanting to scroll down the page and mash buttons because there are so many great white 4drops I'd love to suggest. By scrolling down, I realized that 14 of the cards were already mentioned. sedlife

Anyway, there are some other, more specific ones I'd like to bring up:

Those are obv lower on power. If you're supporting heroic (which I'm going to try with my cube) Charioteers could actually become a powerful option as evasion plus lifelink is no joke. Squad Commander is a card I obv haven't tested in cube (the whole party mechanic) but I have a LOT of those 4 creature types in my cube, and even creating 2 tokens isn't bad at all (Onder already listed Irregular Cohort, a card supporting party/tribes as well as go-wide, which is excellent). Hordemate is a card I really like, obv depends on your cc1/cc2 creature sections.

Solid card. creates tokens only to equalize, not to spam, and has a balanced version of the land tax style effect built on. Really nice white beater.

So far I like this one the most!

Keeper of the Accord

Thoughts?
Depends on what deck you want this to see play in. As a curve topper for white beatdown it's pretty horrendous, because it has mediocre stats for the cost, and you are only winning games if you're ahead of the board. This only ever plays well when you're behind, but the reward it gives you for being behind is still mediocre. Even in slower white decks, wouldn't you rather just play something that lets you take back control of the game, rather than build an unsteady stream of basically sacrifice fodder? To me this seems like much more of a Commander card, and I don't think it's very good in 1v1.

I can see that. Sorry, I'm attracted to durdling too much. I'm looking for something midrange and control heavies might like. Aggressive decks just take Ranger of Eos or any other 4-mana topper so they don't care what it is.

Depending on your power level, Elspeth, Sun's Nemesis has a nice, grindy play pattern. Like Keeper of the Accord it can churn out some token blockers, but it also has the ability to gain a decent chunk of life over the course of the game, and once you took control over the game, the +2/+1 to two creatures (which synergizes nicely with any lifelink creatures you might have picked up) works towards ending the game, rather than prolonging it. Cubwarden has a good 3/5 lifelink baseline, but can gain pseudo-haste and create two small blockers (with lifelink!) if you have a disposable body to mutate onto (like a Lingering Souls token or something). I think I like both of those options better than the Keeper, for what you're looking for.

I just took her out because she just stalled the game by flooding the board with 1/1 tokens that couldn't attack. In general, I'm cutting down the amount of tokens in my cube dramatically so I'm not even sure why I look into Keeper of the Accord. One of the issues I'm trying to fix with my cube is games stalling because my creatures are abundant but too weak to attack profitably.

Maybe you need more board wipes?
Tokens is very similar to +1/+1 counters: very easy to support, goes well into a lot of themes, but also can get overwhelming quickly.

Eric, have you considered

Goes into any white deck, anthem or army builder and has synergy potential.

The fact that your tokens get bigger means that eventually you will get through. It also feels good to have your lands do something late in an aggro deck.
I will say though it is a horrible top deck late game.

I have but I'm looking for a creature. I want something that beefy that helps control. I like cards like Mangara the Diplomat, but it's a complete fuck you to aggro. Ojutai Exemplars is cool but it seems hard to remove, baneslayer-ish and I would rather have white control play differently. Super cool card, though.

Am I picky? White fours seem a bit unconvincing to me.

I'd say give the Exemplars a go. It absolutely fits Wx Control and needs spells to be casted to shine, which is quite desirable as that means more interaction. Just wish it would get vigilance instead of first strike sometimes, as first strike makes the card even better vs aggro.

When Kaldheim drops, here's a 4-drop "creature" to consider:

If your curve needs a 4-drop, you can do a lot worse than a 4/4 flyer with vigilance (even if that creature happens to be a token). And, later in the game, a small army of vigilant angels is a pretty scary finisher.
