Dude I love this art!

Thanks man!
I actually have to go get some new pieces at some point. I've been using the same (Admittedly big) collection of sourced images for a while now, and I'm noticing a few gaps in it. I've got quite a few deviantart galleries to sift through when I get some time

I'm in a drawing mood, let me know if you have any particular needs. But don't make plans relying on me coming through.

I like reawaken, but the instant speed always made me think white for some reason
I dunno, you know when you cast selsnya charm for a 2/2 vigilence after they wrath? It feels like that to me (and for some reason my brain doesn't think that's green for some reason)
Hmmmm, wolfir avenger tho. Maybe I'm going crazy? Sweet card either way, regardless of what color it ends up being

The green guy seems a little more Voice of the Provinces than Avenger of Zendikar. Peasant maybe? I'm unfamaliar

I know what you mean, black isn't always the go to for instants but like necromancy etc is waaaaay more fun than its sorcery counterparts and no one really does it well at instant speed, I think it's within the room to play with. I made unearth an instant by adding 1 and I gave it an expensive flashback by taking away the cycling, it's certainly a better niche card but I don't feel like I broke anyone's back. I was actually thinking about durdely reusing utility guys when I made this, but I wanted control decks to like it too.

My flash dude is only really vaguely related to your angel, he's like a raise the alarm when evoked and a self creating but not busted reanimator target. Think of it like greens enormous war marshal! I like making green sixes and modular cards.

This one ain't modular, though I think I had a version of it without flash and that had an alternate cast

Titanic Cloudskate {3}{U}{G}
Creature - Fish Beast
Flash, flying, trample
5/5

Titanic Cloudskate {3}{U}{G}
Creature - Fish Beast
Flying, trample
{4}{U}{G}: Put Titanic Cloudskate onto the battlefield from your hand.
5/5

Agent of the Court {2}{W}{B}
Creature - Human Knight
Intimidate, vigilance
3/4

Titanic Cloudskate seems rather straightforward? I had no problem filling my Simic section with impactful existing cards either. Is the Cloudskate filling a specific hole in your cube?

Don't get me wrong, I do love the unearthy thing, (Jeez that + Bone Shredder. Yeah I'll Decline to pay echo thank you) I just wanted to point out it also works in white too, but for different reasons.
Unearth is a cool guy.

Maybe your right on green mans. I never think of reanimator.

I love Cloudskate. That seems way fairer and way more fun than simic sky swallower A+

A real subtle difference that you mightve already thoughtaken of with the put on the battlefield from your hand vs flash is that the former is uncounterable, so might make it better as a finisher?

Yeah it literally just beats a guy that can't kill or race a 5/5!

Court Inspector {2}{W}{U}
Creature - Human Knight
Flash, vigilance.
When Court Inspector enters the battlefield look at target player's hand.
3/4

Alien Predator {1}{B}{B}{G}
Creature - Demon
Shroud
At the beginning of your upkeep you lose 1 life.
5/5

{4}{B}
Sorcery
Target player discards a card.
Draw a card.
Delve

Lol^

Ecstatic Orb
Looking for incidental graveyard hate so I can cut the boring and never played but semi-necessary artifacts.

Forgotten Fire {R}
Instant
Exile target card in an opponent's graveyard. Forgotten Fire deals damage to target creature that player controls equal to the that card's converted casting cost.

Gravehaunt Instigator {2}{R}{R}
Creature - Human Shaman
Whenever Gravehaunt Instigator attacks, you may exile target creature card in an opponent's graveyard. If you do, put a token onto the battlefield tapped and attacking that's a copy of that card. Exile the token at the beginning of the next end step.
3/3

A pic for Gravehaunt Instigator.

I'm also bugged (as stated in another thread) that Sun Titan is a 6/6 vigilance. It's a massive wall once it hits play. Don't know if I'm actually willing to customize it, but I love, love, love the ability, and would have liked it on a smaller body without vigilance. Something like this?

Okay so I've been making more stupid finisher cards

Dragon Legend {3}{B}{U}
Legendary Creature - Dragon Wizard
Flash, flying
When Dragon Legend enters the battlefield choose one:
- Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature.
- Draw a card and lose 1 life.
3/4

I think a bunch of charm legendary creatures would be fun!

Ashen Hellkite {3}{B}{R}
Creature - Dragon
Haste, Flying
When Ashen Hellkite enters the battlefield target player discards a card at random.
4/3

(^this one has like 4 incarnations)

Draconic Curator {4}{W}{W}
Creature - Dragon Wizard
Flying, vigilance
When Draconic Curator dies instead return a QUALIFIER permanent from your graveyard to the battlefield and shuffle Draconic Curator into your library.
4/5

Glimmermote {3}{U}{U}
Creature - Illusion
Flying, hexproof
3/4

Shaggyback {2}{G}{G}
Creature - Elemental
When Shaggyback enters the battlefield put a 1/1 green insect token onto the battlefield then gain 1 life for each insect in play.
3/3

Rapid Mobilization {3}{W}{W}
Enchantment (M)
Flash
When Rapid Mobilization enters the battlefield put 2 1/1 white soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield.
Creatures you control get +1/+1

What do you think the white one should do? I was imagining it as sorta eternal dragon but less front loaded.
Also the idea of iconic creature charms!

I'm a bit wary of big (i.e. high P/T) vigilance creatures, hence why I'm contemplating replacing Sun Titan, but this seems fine really. I like the replace effect, though it should probably not say creature. Maybe "artifact or enchantment card"?

I love modal spells, so Dragon Legend is easily my favorite of the batch. I'm not particularly in love with flash as a mechanic, especially in colors that can take advantage of it the most with counterspells and eot card draw, but it works well with the -1/-1 counter. It looks innocious, but I bet it plays really well, because you can shrink an attacker and throw a decently sized flyer in front of it. If all else fails you still got the card advantage mode, and that's a pretty good fallback scenario.

Design Challenge X.5: Design something that sacrifices enchantments. Bonus points for having a playable/borderline base level with no enchantments. Or just make an enchantments matter card.

Flavatog 1GW
Creature - Atog
Sacrifice an enchantment: Put a 1/1 green Atog creature token onto the battlefield.
Exile two enchantment cards in your graveyard: Creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn.
1/2

Onderzeeboot

Ecstatic Orb
Scarab Shield {G}
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and has shroud.
Sacrifice an enchantment: Target creature gets +1/+1 and gains shroud until end of turn.

I'm not saying these are balanced yet. Mostly, I just want to see the first effect on some cards: "whenever CARDNAME is the target of an opponent's spell, (fuck their shit)". Anti-control without slapping hexproof on everything.

The black card almost certainly needs "you can only activate this ability once per turn" but I don't like adding much more card text than the already high amount seen here.

Interesting, but they're only slightly different from just having hexproof. With a small enough downside like the two you mention it can work, but maro has talked before about this hypothetical card:

{4}{G}{G}
When ~ becomes the target of a spell or ability you don't control, draw 4 cards and put 2 3/3 beast tokens onto the battlefield.

That guy might as well have hexproof, since you basically loose the game for targeting him anyway. Make the card simpler and just give him hexproof.

the thing is, the downside you propose also has another, simpler and more synergistic way of being conveyed:

Same basic idea, except less punishing if multiple burn spells are needed, and you can pod him away

Black cat does nothing when exiled, arrested, put to sleep, etc. Now, the player doesn't mind seeing those kind of spells wasted on a black cat, but if you had something juicier in play, any non-kill removal would ignore a Black Cat-style trigger.
