Obviously I was unaware of the Attack on Titan manga series (I had to google that). If you're looking at the piece without knowledge of the series, there really is nothing that suggests this is an enormous creature. To me it simply looks like a possessed human, wreathed in smoke. Compare to the art on both sides of it, the proportions are just the same, and there is no flock of birds, no throng of tiny humans, to use as a frame of reference. It does look kind of "ethereal", in a way that is perfect for an enchantment creature, at least, to me :)

You're right, but it all goes right out the window if you have so much as even one mere admirer of anime, as AoT is probably the most well known anime to have first aired in the last few years. Plus that's the protagonist of the story in the art, which doesn't help.

Huh, I had no clue. Well, canI get away with saying he was hijacked by the 2/1, showing how he was committing an act of treason? ;)

Ugh... Finding hard is already so much work. Looking for a new piece of art when you found art that matched up very well with the mechanics of your card because it is used on some popular show you never heard of... Groan.

I have no idea why all I want is text for mostly randomly sized creatures right now

What upside does this creature need to see play in your cube?
Would "Enters with a charge counter, remove a charge counter: regenerate" be too strong?

You could always commission a piece from a very talented but down-on-luck deviantartist. Do a bit of digging and you can get stuff cheap.

Also, I need some templating help:

Grand Strategy {2}{W}
Enchantment
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, if it has a +1/+1 counter on it, you may draw a card.
At the beginning of combat on your turn, if you control a creature with a +1/+1 counter on it, you may tap target creature

I don't think you need templating help :)

"if there's a +1/+1 counter on it" is probably better?

this is wrong, magic templating is not english, it's a programming language

Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control [trigger event]
if it has a +1/+1 counter on it [intervening if clause]
you may draw a card. [effect]

We want (a less stupid-sounding):
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield [trigger event]
[do small other thing(1)]. [effect]
If it has a +1/+1 counter on it, you may draw a card. [making it a rider effect on the trigger means that it'll always trigger, solving the intervening if issue, but the second ability has its own intervening if so as not to trigger unduly.

At this point to fix the perceived Rakdos Cackler issue(2) there are two options(3): stack timing and rephrasing the ability. Since a creature with a triggered counter-granting ETB and the enchantment in question both 'see' a creature enter and activate (grand strategy in the reverent hunter case won't trigger due to the intervening if clause) if we reword it we can settle the issue by simply putting Grand Strategy's effect on the stack first and the counter-granting ability after it.

1: find the effect you want and cost the enchantment to bridge archetypes? even something as boring as 'untap it' would make the effect work.
2: this is more of a Reverent Hunter issue than a Cackler one, cf the Unleash rulings on simultaneous counter-granting
3: the hidden third option is flavour text reading "c'mon guys you all get what this means, play along"

e: i should prob. mention that i'm an atrocious programmer but i think this works

I think I'm going for option 3

It's also worth noting that unleash works the way clone does: much like it doesn't enter as a 0/0, cackler (If you unleash it) will actually enter and have a counter by the time this thing triggers

That's what I was getting at with the reverent hunter distinction, sorry! Also this is your excuse to bust out some sick Alpha templating.

"Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, draw a card if it has a +1/+1 counter on it."
Is that what you're looking for? I have just skimmed this discussion. If you have a guy enter the battlefield without a counter, this will still trigger, and you can resolve something like a graft trigger first. If you use the intervening if version ("Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, if it has a +1/+1 counter on it, draw a card"), you won't get a trigger from Reverent Hunter (to the best of my knowledge! I could be wrong!). With my version, you could also play a Brushwagg, respond to the trigger with Battlegrowth, and wow! 4/3 Brushwagg that lets you cycle a shitty spell!

Have I done a black creature yet that evokes and draws a cards and loses a life as a death trigger because I feel like that is interesting design space because it can be reasonably costed for body and probably also evoke for only B.

I always felt like white needed more card advantage or smoothing, but now I'm also thinking about when. I want to give white a lot of timed recovery focused advantage. Sorta like what Grave Digger does for black, it's not gonna overwhelm it's gonna attrition. Could recurring small guys do that? For that matter do you have any small white creature ideas control and aggro decks would like?

I'm always interested in black life gain options at under occupied slots. Red cards that help enable a successful midgames (or gain value going into one) are always welcome ideas!

In lucas's world, everything cycles! :p Some cards just don't say cycling

This is why I gave white an instant unearth, and it's been great. Something along the lines of reveilark could be cool too, or karmic guide.
In terms of small creatures control and aggro both like, seeker of the way is one, but I've been pondering about a tapper that could work.
so long as it can tap a creature and still attack, it gains virtual life for the control deck and stops blockers for the aggro deck, but isn't just treated like a removal spell the way master decoy was. Maybe something like this?

WW
Vigilance
~ enters the battlefield with 3 BS counters on it
T, remove a BS counter from ~: tap target creature
2/2

The black lifegain one is interesting. to me, black is underoccupied at 2 drops creatures, 2 drop noncreatures, and 5-6 cost noncreatures, though the 2CC noncreature is usually 100% doom blades + demonic tutor, so in calling it "underoccupied", your mileage may vary.
For the 2CC creature, I've always wanted a pushed child of night, and I've just added this guy to my cube:
bEEL3Ac.png
for 2CC noncreature, this is why I had the reverse night's whisper that gained 2 in, but no, you guys were all like "It's overpowered!" :p
