Here we discuss individual cards in more detail than the passing mentions we often give them in threads.

I'll start:

So, what are peoples thoughts on Riftstone Portal as a fixing land?

I like that it plays into the Loam/Green-land-based-card-advantage archetype, as well as echoing Flagstones of Trokair from the white side of things. That said, I have never been completely sure of the combos with Flagstones, Cataclysm I suppose? White/Black Stax comes up every now and again in my list, where it is pretty sweet, but does it need more support from the White side of things?

This is really cool! Perhaps a GB version would be better?

Excuse me sir, this card is from judgement, which is clearly in violation of this thread's purpose

Not odyssey block.... but here goes

So I'm looking for a potential replacement for claustrophobia. I like claustrophobia and it's ilk because it really gives blue a hard removal spell. But it's maybe a little bad? So I've thought about bringing the effect to 2 mana. That leaves me with probably:

What do we think of this little enchantment? It's basically blue pacifism, but does blue really need pacifism?

Onderzeeboot

Ecstatic Orb

You could always run

You could always run

see, that was exactly where I went with the Train of Thought, and am very glad that you went there also....

Thing about making it a hybrid is now you open up another removal aura for {W}, which makes me want to tone down the number of those I have available. The least elegant one I have is temporal isolation, but I was thinking this would be the perfect opportunity to run something toned down but flexible. Namely:

ok, so I was jamming a buncha modern games tonight at the LGS, and someone just... gave me a pile of unhinged. Cool. Tons of fun looking through the frickin' weird stuff you have to do to play the set as a whole, but all of that aside I ran into something:

Two major things come up around this cute little card:
  1. is it powerful enough? 3 mana creatures gotta start pulling their weight, ya know? I think it is, but:
  2. Would it just be... annoying? Having to look through all your stuff time and time again? I hoping not, but fearing yes
Dunno, seems like a cool card, but I'm not certain it gets there.

A 3-mana double-looter off your matched basics is already pretty cool I think, and it can get nutty depending on how your artist distribution is. I've considered it for my list, but I think it's very dependent on
1) having matching basics in the box,
2) having a player base that can easily spot artists and keep track of them
Note that it does add a lot of on-board complexity for newer/less adept players (what artists do I have? after I play this, which artists will I have?), but I think it's worth a shot if you have a high Johnny count

narcolepsy

Does it need to be an enchantment? You might already be running this, but there's Psionic Blast. Which is 10 times better than both of those options. As long as you are OK with the clear color pie infraction of course.

This is sort of like the green removal problem. I totally get wanting to have each color sort of stand on it's own and have removal, etc. But it's a fine line because some of the options are pretty subpar and you can ultimately be in a situation where you are just running bad cards in your cube to try and meet artificial quotas.

I like the narcolepsy effect a lot and if they ever print a super pushed one, I'll run it. Until then, blue can splash for removal like green has to beyond the few legit options that exist. I really think that's your best bet unless your average power level is really low.

I like Sensory Deprivation and Agoraphobia quite a bit. The latter can also be used to get "free" prowess triggers in a pinch.
