Sets AEther Revolt Spoilers

For those of us with artifact heavy cubes. I also like to see that Wizards is continuing to give black solid support for artifact based themes.:D Curious as to where it will fall in eternal formats. I can see it popping up in lantern control, but I am not too familiar with the deck. (More of a Bant Eldrazi/Burn player at the moment.)

Aether Poisoner tickles my fancy as it does a lot of things i,m.o. It plays around with energy and artifacts matter in an interesting way. Deathtouch gives it an additional evasiveness that can be used defensively, too. Probably second or third best out of its cycle - red definitely, green maybe.

First Strike and Menace side by side on a 1 power creature is odd, but I like how this is touching strange design spaces. It basically requires 3 blockers from your opponent at any given attack, wields equipment and carries counters like a champ, and the weird 1/3 body allows it to also function as a serviceable blocker against aggressive decks. We've gotten a ton of great 3 drops in red over last few years, but the 2 drop slot has been relatively barren in comparison. This looks interesting enough to run for a bit. I'm also really digging the idea of a hidden pet monkey just hit-and-running every attack. Like a rabid Abu from Aladdin.

No, the schematic is original, and is a helpful printing for me. The only two paper weights previously were ichor wellspring and mycosynth wellspring. I hope they print one more like it at uncommon and I can go singleton on paper weights.

That rampage is also quite nice, as red tends to lack in good ways to quickly boost power.

Wow Reckless racer is sweet. That's I think the best rummage to date.

Also do very much love the Schematic. Multiple fodder pieces for Daretti in one!

Also might look for a slot for Restoration Specialist. Efficient and flexible recursion has gotta be super good for white if there are good enough densitis of artifacts/enchantments.

I knew there was another wellspring, I just couldn't remember what it did, and myr was a solid guess :p

This is the last of the set however, and I didn't notice another paperweight. Maybe myr sire?

Thats alright, its still better to have a new edition to the club. The real fun with those cards is letting them sit out there and act like a passive power grid for metalcraft cards or activated abilities like whirler rogue.

And of course, the value sacrifice effects are nice as well.

At least that much is true. Don't tap out if you've got a kill spell in hand when your opponent plays either one of their combo pieces...

But if they just wait till turn 6 they can play Felidar, blink a land, play their 6th land and cast Saheeli for the win with nothing but lands in play to start.
Yup, that's the turn you have to be very careful. I expect there is going to be a pretty hardcore combo core in Standard for the foreseeable future.

The only reason I'm considering Baral's Experiste is because it is not instant speed. Mystic Confluence was way too much of a swiss army knife and an extreme blowout at instant speed, I said no to that one from the very start. Being able to keep up any of the following:

Mana Leak + Bounce Two
Mana Leak + Draw Two
Draw 3
Bounce 3

...if you untapped with 5 mana ahead of your opponent was a backbreaking sequence. That's just a card that will be good in like 95% of scenarios unless you're super far behind. Forcing the blue player to tap out at sorcery speed for the Evacuation effect (or cool tech-y bounce my guys, wrath the board plays) I feel is more tame, even with the pseudo-cascade.
