General How to execute a minimalist Artifact theme

Surprisingly I'm finding blue sort of shallow for a minimalistic artifact theme. What blue cards do you run that can be used by other decks too? I only have Trinket Mage, Wing Splicer, Whirler Rogue, Ongoing Investigation, and Thirst for Knowledge.

    General CBS

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, Knight of Autumn and Siege Rhino are the sort of thing that hoses aggro. It's hard to make cube aggro be strong enough to beat strong midrange stabilizers. That does seem like an especially bad matchup. Paring down on the power level/density of midrange threats would...

Assuming your cube cobra link is updated, your environment doesn't look especially hostile to aggro, though it has quite a few board sweepers. Perhaps some of it is just variance? It would be interesting to look at what happened in the games, maybe dial back on the sweepers a little bit? Say...

    Sets [M21] M21 Previews!

Spoiler season focuses on rares/mythics and those can be pretty complex in core sets. I think this is a posterchild of "do we like cards that combo with themselves?" Finding out you can combo Merfolk Looter with Zombify is an epiphany. Having the combo on the same card feels cheesy, it...

    Sets [M21] M21 Previews!

I think more than a difference in power level, the difference in rarity is because Cultivate is for constructed (not fragile to removal and board sweeps) and Llanowar Visionary for limited (elves, blink, ramp, draw matters). Does anyone remember when rarity did not have a strong correlation...

    Sets [M21] M21 Previews!

This seems pretty cool. Exciting that some combinations allow this to be cast as early as turn 3 (T2 is more like magical christmas land territory), but even on turn 5+ it's quite a push to go "burn to face + 6/6, beat that." There's also the interesting sequencing decision of when to cast you...

Card/Deck Warriors Tribal Theme: Cards That Can Come Out to Play (and aren't parasitic)

Oh, I read that wrong. Though the trigger was when she attacked, not when any warrior attacked. Yeah, she's stronger.

Card/Deck Warriors Tribal Theme: Cards That Can Come Out to Play (and aren't parasitic)

Najeela, the Blade-Blossom is much weaker than Goblin Rabblemaster. - It needs to wait a turn to create a token - It has to attack, and as a 3/2 it's pretty squishy in combat. - It does not become larger by itself. Of course the drawback of having to attack isn't there, but if you can't...

    Sets [M21] M21 Previews!

-1/-0 to opponent's creatures is a huge help against aggro, which reanimator struggles against, but doesn't outright destroy it like Massacre Wurm. The better cycling is really nice, and makes this a desirable finisher in control and decent in midrange. I like this card a lot.

General Life Gain as a Thing

Sorry Onder :( Fixed it, you just have to forget. *Puts on sunglasses* My biggest problem with the lifegain theme are the payoffs. Apart from the black life payment cards, those are really narrow for the lifegain deck, and it doesn't work if you include only a few of them, as they are fragile...

General Embrace the Chaos / Cube Occasionals

Those four are parts of the same deck, though, and have obviously been chosen to support an archetype with redundancy. What I'm saying in the OP is that if you provide more or less random parts that play well and are reactive, your drafters will themselves figure out what deck to build and have...

    Sets [M21] M21 Previews!

It's not so much the amount of text, but how the card does not feel cohesive as the abilities have no connection to flavor or each other. I don't think this new Masticore is too bad, though. Discarding as a cost is solidly tied to the Masticore crature type, and two of its abilities are about...

I'm all for low power, but I can't see this being correct to play over basic Plains in any deck.

General Embrace the Chaos / Cube Occasionals

I've been implementing the other ideas you mentioned for years, and ultimately they weren't enough. Perhaps I've just fail at implementing them. This point I quoted is promising space. If you have a couple of themes that are strongly interconnected, you've left the cards highly reactive with...

    General Battlecruiser/dragon cube theory

Maybe like 33% 5+ mana creatures? That will give players ~8 per deck, assuming the same sideboarding ratio for big creatures and other cards. If you want to be more extreme, try starting at 50%.
