Well, because that's what cube should be; not that I begrudge any of you not running singleton. I feel similarly about custom cards. I think there's enough diversity in printed magic cards to make an interesting environment without breaking either of those. With that said, I'm deliberately lower...

I mean, singleton is a legitimate design decision; I run singleton, but I also don't run functional reprints because then it's not singleton.

General Life Gain as a Thing

I mean, play the best cards in magic puts your flag 360 cards from the top of the pyramid, where colour balance is shot and control is bonkers, and, bizarrely, the resultant cubes aren't very good either.

General How often does your cube get drafted?

I should finish pulling together the cards for my cube and/or proxying them up, so I can find some people who don't suck to play with, so I can iterate, so I can feel comfortable making a thread here with some actual data behind it and not 'this seems good'.

I haven't even got a whole cube to draft. I guess I could proxy it up? Then I'd need to find people to draft with who don't suck. LOCAL EDH META *shakefist*

General Life Gain as a Thing

I feel like we have so many conversations where the conclusion is 'my cube is too high a power level for $swathe_of_cards'. Is this telling of something? I'm not sure if it's just that most cards are actually garbage, or we're setting our limited format dreams slightly too high, or just...

    General Squadron Build-Arounds

I'm not saying we should; I'm saying it's totally possible to play (constructed) magic without giving WotC a cent. It's also a pretty bad idea to do so! But I wouldn't be surprised if that's why the company line is 'do stuff more like the stuff we sell'.

    Oh sure, but WotC corporate.

    General Squadron Build-Arounds

I have the feeling that there's a company line, where they want magic to look pretty close to 'real' magic, because once everyone realises they have no power and everyone can just build cubes from proxies with custom cards and utility land drafts and what have, they're kind of out of a business.

General The size of one's cube

I mean, I'm talking from an always getting 8 players perspective, which clearly a lot of people don't, and from 390 rather than 360, so it is just 4 extra boosters. I've not had the chance to actually test this properly, but yeah, with large chunks of the cube missing, I would expect what you're...

    General CBS

I mean, when you boil down to it, it's about parasitic/linear mechanics, right? For (maybe interesting?) context, Scars has an as-fan of poison of 1.2. To get that in cube, 8.5% of your cards need to have poison, which is what, 30 cards (in a 360 cube), which is maybe two drafters. That's not...

Well making that ability on a legit playable creature at common in the small set is probably asking for miserable Theros block drafts, even if we'd love it.

General The size of one's cube

I actually completely disagree; I'd rather overfill by two to three boosters, such that while almost everything is always in the pool, there's always the chance that the corner piece you're drafting around isn't there. You do need enough overlap that if you don't pick up Perfect Card, you can...

    General Squadron Build-Arounds

I wonder if there's a format here along the lines of FFG's Star Wars LCG, where you build decks via blocks of 7 cards.
