    Card/Deck Creature lands

I treat the dual manlands like fixing, so while I agree there is a large power gap between UW and RB, all are still good enough IMO for the fixing alone. What's wrong with calling them manlands?

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Stormbind was a mainstay in power max cubes before the playable gold card explosion. It's a good card. I really dislike the old gold frame though, so hopefully they reprint that at some point.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Whelk is also going in my next update. It was already borderline playable, and so just a slight drop in power and speed and that becomes very strong. I still want a 0/0 version that has Evoke for 1UU.

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

I like the shock land drawback a lot. If you can afford to ETB tapped, there is no life loss. If you need the card, 2 life is not insignificant. I guess my issue with those lands is that they are insanely strong. They make the original duals look bad. Swap out <> for B on the island...

    Card/Deck Creature lands

I like manlands. They are hard to deal with threats and they fix mana. What's not to like? I'm running all 10 and fist pumping while I do it. With that said, Colonnade and Tar Pit in particular are really strong and I can see people not wanting to run them.

I'm definitely trying Deftblade Elite. Nice recommendation on that (coming if for a generic 2/1 boring beater). Lashknife Barrier seems cool too and if Story Circle proves to be too ridiculous, I might swamp them. Love threads like this.

General Old-schoolify planeswalkers (by turning them into a "normal" card type)

On a serious note, I truly believe this is problematic. Enchantment removal is very conditional primarily because the density of that card type is very low. Cards like Wispmare look like garbage against decks with no target, but is very good if there is a target. This is the same problem...

General Old-schoolify planeswalkers (by turning them into a "normal" card type)

The bottom got cut off on that picture. In my browser anyway. I'm still not sure I like these as enchantments (pretty sure I don't in fact). Main reasons: Walkers look like people and so "creature" feels like a better card type. Enchantments are pretty un-interactive. One of the reasons...

Hey, I just realized the spark tokens work with proliferate too. That's sweet. Semi pitches to force?

General Old-schoolify planeswalkers (by turning them into a "normal" card type)

Yeah, this is a really cool idea. Keep these coming. On the multi-colored walker thing... here's where I think my objections stems and I'm not sure it's got a solid rationale. Multi-colored sections are tiny (3-4 cards) and to some extent what you run there will pigeonhole your color...

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

Fetch lands are more powerful than basic lands. It's not the power level that is the problem though. There are times the life loss matters. I agree it's worth the effect but it's still not unconditionally better than a basic. They do different things so it's honestly hard to really talk...

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

I'll try to be more constructed here. What if you had the choice of ETB tapped or take 2 life on those lands? I just can't deal with them being unconditionally better than basics. It's hurts my eyes. Also, if you had a plot of land that good (like better than every other similar plot of...

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

We certainly don't, but it feels like bad design to me is all. To be fair, I really dislike cards that are unconditionally better than other cards. I won't run Lighting Bolt for this reason because it makes so many other burn spells look retarded. I do understand wanting a better flying man...

General Old-schoolify planeswalkers (by turning them into a "normal" card type)

The first versions are my favorite. Trigger on death, tap for the + ability, and then spark to ascended for ultimate. Simple design and flavorful. Garruk in particular has this Call of the Herd throwback feel that really appeals to me. I would probably take creative license though and not...

Those don't even ETB tapped??? OMG Are you not bothered by how awful Swamp looks next to Abandoned Fen?

Really cool designs Onderzeeboot. I'm a fan. If I ran customs, I'd really consider something like this.

General Old-schoolify planeswalkers (by turning them into a "normal" card type)

You might be OK on that simply because they are creatures so die to doom blade, wrath, etc. I always felt that the ability to attack walkers directly was a band aid for the fact that they couldn't be interacted with otherwise (they might as well be emblems with activated abilities). Some...

    General MODO Cube Redesign

It's interesting. I've heard this argument many times, and it really bothers me for some reason. It just feels so untrue. Rant incoming... Why Green doesn't actually suck For one, T1 elf into T2 3 drop is so much more powerful IMO than T2 rock into T3 4 drop. YMMV on that to be fair, but...

General Old-schoolify planeswalkers (by turning them into a "normal" card type)

I like those creature walkers. Maybe add text that a walker that is ascended is indestructible. Feels correct from a flavor perspective. I'd honestly consider running something along those lines. A bit heavy on the text but not sure there's a good solution for that.
