    General Fight Club

I would not want to make this choice honestly. But if I had to, it would have to be Genesis for me. That's probably my favorite green card of all time. It's an engine and an arch type all rolled into one. Silverheart is just a wonderful card though and pairs so nicely with traditional mana...

That's the best part about it. Nothing worse than playing traditional multi-player with 5 guys and being the first to die. Then having to sit there for an hour while you wait for the remaining four to grind out the rest of the game (and they tend to linger because no one wants to make a move...

    Card/Deck Brainstorm as a lynchpin

Easier said than done I'm afraid. My group is really inconsistent, so gathering that type of data for me is very difficult. And so Magic these days for me is mostly theory crafting unfortunately.

For those looking for a cool multi-player variant that DOES allow aggro/tempo to compete, you guys should try "Attack Left" (or "Right" - direction doesn't actually matter). It's still technically free-for-all (you can target and attack anyone), but in order to win the game all you need to do...

    Card/Deck Brainstorm as a lynchpin

Part of me identifies with this. I really hate goodstuff.dec (one reason I want to focus more and more on synergistic cards versus raw power cards to force deck buiding and not just power-grab drafting). And yet there is another part of me that just hates building a deck and having my draw...

Totally myopic on my part. My bad. I think I'm a little annoyed with a couple of the other cards though because there are clearly non-choices in them. And maybe that changes with more than 2 players and I should probably be more mindful of that (and even embrace it).

LOL. Good call on that. I forgot about the implications in multi-player. And I should have thought of that because my group does play that often (though usually two-headed giant).

    Sets [M15] Magic 2015 Spoilers

Reclamation Sage is awesome. That is an auto-include for me. I never liked Viridian Shaman because it only hit artifacts (so was too conditional and also didn't feel green enough to me). Plus it came on a semi-rubbish body to add insult to injury. At least the sage has more targets so will...

The "will of the council" mechanic seems gimmicky as hell. Just say "choose and exile a permanent" instead of pretending there is more than one mode. I'm disappointed with these cards that use this mechanic because they one's I've seen don't have real choices. It's just a waste IMO of a cool...

    General The evolution of Magic...

Totally. On both points. It is so hard to theorycraft Magic. I'm wrong more than I'm right, and frankly it's not even close. So I could be completely off base on what this rule change could do. Maybe flood/screw is just as prevalent and I completely break the value of card draw in the game...

I like the combo potential of that thing. Scry is like in love with this card. What I really want to do is pay 4, put Karmic Guide and some heinous fatty in my yard and let the bustedness commence.

    General Color matters / devotion

Point is, I don't think most of these things are based on a careful mathematical analysis. And that is sort of why I'm not opposed to questioning them if there is a really good reason to do so. I'm not necessarily saying there is, but I see these rules as just as breakable as singleton in cube...

    General Color matters / devotion

That totally makes sense. I remember when I first started, I was told 1/3 land. But I never follow that anymore even in my more aggressive builds (40% is usually my bottom limit). You just get hosed too often with 20 lands. Flood sucks too, but you can recover from that usually. Screw is...

    General Color matters / devotion

A good point. It also doesn't address why 60 cards was chosen in the first place. I agree that with a 60 card minimum, the correct number to run is 60. But why was 60 chosen in the first place? It could have easily been a different number was my point from the beginning.

    General The evolution of Magic...

I don't think this rule is that game changing honestly. But I'll have to run some tests to see what happens. Consistency will increase, and that is the one thing I have some reservations about (I like the lower level of consistency you get in limited personally). Decks will work better as...

    General The evolution of Magic...

An interesting idea posted on MTG Salvation in the casual forum. I posted this there as well. Here is a link to that thread. http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/casual-related-formats/homebrew-variant-formats/177476-magic-2-0-aka-screw-the-mana-screw It's a cool idea actually...

    General The evolution of Magic...

I don't disagree. And this is kind of what I'm after. Isn't the option before your draw step of exiling and drawing a new card a decision with meaning? I don't think it's something you always want to do depending on the board state, what's in your hand, etc. Maybe I'm wrong though...

    General The evolution of Magic...

A question near and dear to my heart. And I think you are correct in where that falls (somewhere in the middle). Another nice idea. This one should be a super easy sell too. Guys in my group HATE taking a mulligan because starting with one less card is just a disadvantage plain and simple...

    General The evolution of Magic...

That's a nice idea too. I especially like the shuffle effect. Cube needs more of those. It feels a little punishing though. Losing a card to ensure a land drop (actually, thinking of it like that sounds better for some reason). Feels almost like an in-game mulligan of sorts. I suppose this is...
