I'm in the same boat. It looked over-the-top to me and so I never even considered it.

    Card/Deck Green 5-drops

That makes sense. Thanks Eric/Jason. I can see it having a high variance for sure (sometimes that trigger would do nothing). But in my mind, I can also see some GBW deck that wants to run pod/Genesis (packing the GY with stuff) loving this card. Not sure how you guys tend to use Genesis...

    Card/Deck Green 5-drops

In a slower environment (read: mine), I feel like Sun Titan will be too powerful. It essentially functions as an upgraded Genesis that has no upkeep cost and can pull anything out the graveyard instead of just creatures (oh, and it smashes face while doing it and can block simultaneously)...

    General Color matters / devotion

That I would agree with wholeheartedly. On the topic of color screw... I think if it comes because of bad deck building or from cards played by your opponent, it's OK (in limited doses). But the random screw that happens from the shuffle, that I think is just feel bad.

    General Color matters / devotion

This dovetails a bit with the thread I started on Magic evolution. A fundamental question: Is Magic better when people are drawing the proper amount of land to spells (i.e. not getting flooded/screwed)? Or do people like the variance that is built into the random nature of the game and...

    Card/Deck Green 5-drops

I feel like Inferno does too much honestly. It's a 6/6 dude for 6 plus you get a free DIVIDABLE bolt every turn, including the turn you play him. That's pretty busted honestly. He's never been in my cube formally, but I've tested him a few times and he took over games in ways I was unhappy...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

QPM is a really good card, but if you aren't rocking "must kill" artifacts/enchantments I think you can drop him (IMO, the trend of running this guy and dudes like him "no matter what" is really just a lingering mindset from the powermax cube template - where you have to run basically all...

I don't think goyf is that great in cube honestly. It's just a big dumb undercosted beater that really is only undercosted in decks that get lots of stuff in the GY. And to Lucre's point, it can be hosed by other good cards that get played. Plus the stupid card costs $200 and I'd...

    Card/Deck Green 5-drops

I think you guys are on the verge of convincing me to break my "no titan" rule and allow Primeval Titan in. I don't like the infinite CA built into the titans (which is why all of them are currently excluded), but this effect is distinctly green and may not be as overtly broken as grave or...

General It could happen in any number of formats

Denying access to color is the ideal scenario with land destruction sure, but it's not the whole point or even the primary point IMO simply because you can't rely on that outcome. Against a deck running two colors with a solid mana base, you do not have good odds of keeping them off the colors...

General It could happen in any number of formats

That's fair, but you don't usually keep U up multiple turns. If you are doing that, it's because your opponent isn't casting stuff or they are casting lower cost stuff to play around your counter (or you are holding it open for Spell Pierce and your opponent keeps dropping dudes so you can't...

I like the lax nature of this site. It's cool actually. I'm a fan. I would certainly agree that disagreement is healthy. With the caveat that this is only true as long as it remains constructive and doesn't descend into a condescending pissing match. That's the quickest way to kill...

I'm around 180 out of 360. So 50%. I intentionally stay at that number because it feels right to me.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think where these guys are good is when you are facing a control deck and you want to force their hand. Control wants you playing more dudes so they can 2 for 1 you. But the level up dudes force them to go 1 for 1 and that is why they are good IMO. Student in particular is just annoying...

General It could happen in any number of formats

I'm with Lucre here. Spell Pierce and Remand are very different counters. Remand goes in lots of different decks. The cycling is what makes is so good because even control can utilize it (it's not just a hoser or a tempo counter). Spell Pierce is not a card I want in my control deck because...

    Card/Deck Green 5-drops

I think the 4 slot is in green is even more jammed. I'm good with my 5 drop choices and wouldn't switch any of them unless I could get the same or very similar effects in newer cards. Genesis - a wonderful engine card. One of my favorite green cards ever. A tad slow for some cubes...

    General Fight Club

That's why I find the choice difficult. Augur has a higher ceiling (1 card > scry 2), but Omenspeaker is more consistent. And scry 2 is actually great. I'm running Augur right now, but I waffle a lot on that selection.

General It could happen in any number of formats

I hate Spell Pierce personally. Conditional counters suck because they too often end up useless (especially true in a slower format). Maybe I'm just unlucky, but every time I have spell pierce my opponent drops a dude and when he doesn't, he can pay the 2. Fuck that spell. I need my early...
