There are so many blue 4s though. Tons of good draw spells (FoF, both Gifts, DA, Careful Consideration, Foresee) but also a lot of the anti-creature stuff (Sower, Control Magic, Dungeon Geists) as well as stuff like Dismiss, GEA etc.
Not Theros previews, but these are kinda cool despite the art (https://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/491):
These don't exist in physical form, but they're real enough for me. The planeswalker looks really sweet ('looks' might be the wrong word...)
- Look for aggro creatures with late-game applications (Figure of Destiny, Student of Warfare) - or that fit in control decks (Tarmogoyf, Blade Splicer)
- Include ways for aggro to sweep the legs out from under control (mass LD is particularly good for this, even lesser cards like Thoughts of...
This isn't really an update, but I didn't want to create a new thread so I'm posting here. List in question is here: http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/3249
As Jason likes to remind us, Legacy is awesome, and shaping my Cube around the kinds of interactions found in Legacy (and Vintage/Modern...
Well, Zendikar was incredibly popular and brought more people into the game. Since then, I believe every block has contained a best selling set.
I'd put Innistrad on this list, tbh.
Jason, what do your control decks normally look like and how good are they? I've been finding that in a creature-centric Cube with lots of contextually powerful cards instead of haymakers it's hard to put a decent control deck together.
Thomas, are you going to the SCG event in Cardiff in a...
Initiative is interesting, can't think of a good mana sink though. Something that can pump creatures repeatedly?
Anax and Cymede intrigues me. Obviously you want as many free spells that can target it as possible (Mutagenic Growth and Gut Shot), and Young Pyromancer is ideal as a way to...
Well, currently all of the creatures in the deck perform some other function crucial to the combo. Storm Entity doesn't do anything unless you have enough of those other cards; the comparison isn't between Storm Entity and the other guys, but between it and Empty/Haze/Bushwhacker.
Ranger...
I have a problem!
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Satyr Hedonist
4 Priest of Urabrask
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Ranger of Eos
1 Legion Loyalist
1 Wild Cantor
4 Empty the Warrens
4 Haze of Rage
6+ empty slots (Faithless Looting, more Cantors, Bolt/PtE, SSG, Forge-Tender, Voice/War Marshal, Rituals)
Highborn is close to being good enough already, and if you can find enough good cards that happen to be Vampires I can see it being very good.
Plus the idea of activating Mirror Entity for 0 with Highborn in play pleases me in ways it shouldn't.
