I do feel the difference between a 2/2 that draws a card and a 3/2 that draws a card and has a relevant creature type is a huge difference at three mana. Incidentally, the deck that cares about that creature type is also the deck that wants to apply early pressure and is likely to cast this card...

I run Fauna Shanan, never been a problem. She's only a 2/2, after all, and she has an activation cost, however small. You do want to deal with her though.

I think the answer might, in part, depending on the removal you run. If you've got a decent chunk of instant speed removal that can deal with this in your cube, you can make this into a 2 for 2 with the sacrifice trigger on the stack, leading to some clever counterplay. This is a play pattern...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind spending money on release if they did a proper update of Shandalar and ported the concept to modern age Magic. It truly is a great game, only held back by its lack of new content and its graphics.

I've heard Power Play is insanely overpowered, though I guess it depends a bit on your interpretation. There are a lot of players who interpret this as you going first every game. Edit: This reading is confirmed by the rules (and by Matt Tabak, then rules manager). So, yeah, completely busted.
