    Other Games

I'm looking for other card games that you all recommend, ideally with some nice juicy design lessons in them. Netrunner? Dominion? Any of the Sirlin games? Blue Moon?

    Nathan's Cube

Out of curiosity, what statistics program do you use?

Well, the main problem with TappedOut is that the "pick order" statistic is based off of picks from all drafts, not just from cubes. So if some random cube was first-picked a lot in M11 or whatever, that guide the bots' cube picks. It would be an interesting exercise to build some...

    General Brainstorming: Microdrafting

Other idea I was playing with is having some sort of way to pay life to put cards from your graveyard into your library. It might not be necessary though. One thing this exercise has had me thinking about is what I would actually want out of a two-player deckbuilding activity, in Magic or...

I was under the impression that posting guides on making proxies was perhaps questionable territory to be in. I know other sites try to keep that stuff under wraps, so there must be a reason.

Cube Tool cuesbey.com - purpose-built site for cube comparison

It's definitely something worth keeping an eye on. The statistics section is a little rough, but I'm admittedly always a little critical in that department. As far as I can see there's no way to run a multiplayer draft, correct?

May need to errata Near-Death Experience to a more reasonable casting cost.

Library as a resource. I would like some high-impact permanents to put on the board. E.g. Moat and friends. Chalice of the Void. Crazy things that you think of when you think of the word "magic".

Thanks, oh, and sorry if my tone came off not very positive. I think it's a really nice looking image, and he stitched together the different arts rather well.

If anybody thinks of any cards that would be awesome / different in a micro drafting format, let me know.

Thanks Vibe! I like the image, but it gives me a bit of a weird feeling. For one, it bears striking resemblance to certain MTGS signatures. Two, it's perhaps a little too tall, and lastly I am not wild about the font. Actually, I don't know if we need text at all, but I am always into a more...

    General Brainstorming: Microdrafting

I was wondering about the following rule: If you would draw a card while your library is empty, target opponent loses 1 life instead. orIf you would draw a card while your library is empty, you lose 1 life.

Yeah, I was thinking that you wouldn't lose via self-decking, but that something like Thought Scour potentially attacks a very important resource: their library. You could also run stuff like Laboratory Maniac. I'm not worried about short games though, it should be a light, hard-hitting format.

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

Well, in the next month I will proxy this bad boy up, and if it doesn't totally suck I'll start tracking down the actual cards.

So, Eric and I were chatting today and we had the bright idea to start some topics that could generate some interesting debate. This is not such a thread. Not yet. The conversation got me thinking about how Magic is a terrible two-player draft game. Yes yes, you can Grid Draft or Quilt or play...

Eric and I talked about this before, and if you think about it in political terms, this site is effectively the home of far-left wing cube design. You can actually run pretty deep with that analogy if you try.

General Having different configurations for different packs

Hey, Magic historians out there, how about we break it down to something simpler for now. What dynamics have historically existed in pack to pack drafting? Let's start there and see if there are any ideas that can be ported to cube.

Well, the MTGS forums have long disliked the MTGO cube, so it's not exactly a new phenomenon. Not sure if there's any way to harness that, though.

Feel free to spread the good word wherever you go. Although, be warned, venom is very selectively aimed. It's okay to use custom cards, power, errata, Un- cards, Chaos Orb, make custom split cards, make a cosmetic space theme, etc... other things are strictly frowned upon over there.
