Yeah I don't know why everyone drafts your fetchlands so highly, but assuming your group doesn't gear is okay. But it kinda just becomes bonesplitter, so...

What I can't figure out is why people don't take fetchlands more highly in everyone's cubes. I don't think they're overrated or underrated here - just, well, rated. But they seem undervalued in other people's environments. Don't players want consistent manabases so they can cast their spells?

I think this phenomenon was brought to bear in the online drafts Jason ran, where every participant was a Riptide regular. We know they're good, and sure enough, there weren't enough to go around.

I agree with Chris's assessment of Grafted Wargear as being in the insane pile, even if it's maybe a half-tier below the other pieces of equipment. It varies, though. If you run stuff like Smash to Smithereens and Viridian Shaman, you probably have more outs to it, so it becomes closer to fair. But if you want to cut down on narrow answer cards like Nature's Claim, Wargear gets a lot better. Either way, it's pretty swingy.

I find that Adventuring Gear is closer to unplayable, sadly. The fair list is really small.
Ughhh there is so much to be discussed beyond the talking points. Drunk Lucas so close to writing bad post. No do that. Drunk Lucas think much to be discussed, bigger problem than grafted wargear, grafted wargear strong card that supports the things that you choose to already support in your environment without making the game any deeper or more complex (though it is available to colours other than black) and that (and being a very aggressive non-creature permanent) is it's mortal sin.

Lucas think Grafter Wargear is card worthy of more discussion, maybe find bigger forum. Maybe Custom Card discussion on white weenie Jason jumped into to critique not best place to discuss the merits of hotly debated equipment card with no analogue. Maybe Lucas just shut up now.

I don't know what it is with equipment, the middle mark is just impossible to find. Even in my cube where Livewire Lash is about a pushed as you can get it, its not that great unless you have Flickering Ward/Shimmering Wings/Mark of Fury, in which case it gets silly. Basilisk Collar is sort of the same deal, but with pingers. Wargear is the reverse deal: its pretty insane without artifact interaction, but with it you get blown out.

Bonesplitter is, like, the only just right piece of equipment.

Maybe swap the cast and equip costs.
Yeah, I could see that as well. I think the point that Phyrexian mana is very suited to balancing your equipment still stands! :)

Lifewire Lash {2}
Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature gets +2/+0, has lifelink and has "Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell, this creature deals 2 damage to target creature or player."
Equip {2}{W/P}

Chameleon Carapace {1}
Equipped creature gets +2/+2, can't block and can't be blocked.
Equip {3}{U/P}

Banshee's Shroud {2}
Equipped creature gets +1/+0 and has intimidate.
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, that player discards a card.
Equip {1}{B/P}

Speedsaw {0}
Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature gets +1/+0 and has haste.
Equip {R/P}

Rancorsplitter {1}
Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature gets +2/+0 and has trample.
Equip {1}{G/P}

All these are existing equipment with an extra color-specific ability and the corresponding Phyrexian mana symbol added in/to the equip cost. They all seem sweet!

I love them.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may put a charge counter on this.

{T}: Add X to your mana pool and lose X life where X is the number of charge counters on this.

Disclaimer: I make no claims that this isn't bonkers.

If this was a forced counter and added one of any color instead of X (just one mana, not X of any color) it'd be a printable City of Brass variant.

At forced, how many uses do you get out of it before it kills you? Three uses is 6 damage, four uses is 10 damage, assuming you don't skip using it. I guess games probably go quite quick if you have 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 mana though.

Depends on how many Sphinx's Revs you are firing off.

How about must, but each use instead of each upkeep?

Tap: Add a charge counter, add x mana of any color and lose x life, where x is number of charge counters

I know this card is kind of whateverland, but this formatting is super unintuitive to me. You have to tap it once for a useless activation? Better to have it ETB tapped.
