General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

I mean, Borgardan Lancer certainly isn't the worst thing you can do with 2 mana for red, but a gimped Benalish Cavalry isn't where I'd like to be.

Depends on what sort of cube you are running.

Meaning there are better flanking guys depending on how your cube looks? Or those guys are good in some cubes?

If the former, which ones (I'm genuinely interested - I have always liked flanking). If the latter, how much do you have to lower the power of your cube to make these guys good (because I'm not sure I'm on board)?

I think the ideal design for a pushed flanking card would be some sort of ultra-efficient creature that gave the opponent some number of 1/1 creature tokens.

Something like:

Goblinslayer Knight
1W
3/3
Flanking
When Goblinslayer Kight ETB, put a 1/1 red goblin token into play under target opponent's control.

or

Borgardan Heavy Lancer
2R
4/3
Haste, Flanking
When Borgardan Heavy Lancer ETB, put 2 1/1 white soldier tokens into play under target opponent's control.

Yeah, I'm thinking those cards as written suck, but I like the idea of the design space. As it is, flanking is basically just a sweetener with minimal play to it. You could basically just throw it onto a otherwise sub-optimal creature to try to bring it up to power level, but its kind of a boring way to do it

Borgardan Heavy Lancer could probably be 5/3.

Theme of the cube, power level, etc, etc.

He's in on a trial run, and has no problem running over Augurs and Sea Gate oracles etc, which is what I wanted it to do. And if you can't trigger his bloodlust on turn two, you have made something wrong. He's also about as bad a top deck as stormblood berserker.

I run the guy who gives all guys with flanking extra flanking. RW can do flanks-mans and just trade up all day; WU can clone the flanking lord and go to town. I guess flanking and +1/+1 counters works well? So RG and WG can pick that up I guess, although you'd be better going fires/overrun/enchantments/wake/cascading in some combination of those colours.

Your mileage will certainly vary.

Is anybody going to link to the Flanking guys or are we just supposed to already know about these cards nobody cares about?

Wait, so let me get this right. Bogardan Lancer is a conditional this guy?
