Even with my weaker removal suite, that 3 toughness on Icefall was too much a liability over here (Frost Titan tax or no tax - 3 toughness is pretty easy to deal with). Frost Titan is a billion times harder to remove because of it's toughness. I like Dungeon Geists as much as I was hoping Icefall would replace it.

He's flying, so usually he just connects and starts taking over the board. He's broken wide a lot of games over here when he comes down late and starts swinging in.

Its just nice to have an alternative to geist or dragon: two cards which are essentially duplicates, and where the worth of the various trade offs you get from one to the other will essentially be format dependent.

I've been seeing this argument as much as the +1/+1 counter one lately... :)

I think this is the riptide equivalent of "you can always brainstorm it away and crack a fetch when it's not useful". Now if you could "pitch it (somnophore) to force" instead of pitch it to force we'd be putting it in every riptide cube.

curious how you guys would rate these against each other. I think Revelry is better but Wear//Tear is so good i'm considering Breach instead
vs

Hmm, that is somewhat context-dependent. If your Gruul decks are beatdown more often than not, Revelry is what you want. If you have a high density of artifacts and enchantments, or if you like Gruul to play ramp/tapout control, which is awesome, Hull Breach gives you better value. They're both perfectly serviceable cards, but it's still hard to justify putting better-disenchant into a guild slot for me. If their mana costs were hybridized they'd be amazing. As is they're definitely runnable if you've got the guild space.

Hmm, I honestly think I prefer Vorapede for a more traditional cube. I know Wanderer has been getting hype all over the place, but even when your fixing is above-average even by Riptide standards, he's just a beater. Vorapede also pitches to Force, and gets Undying for one extra mana and a more (or equally, depending on how you look at it) restrictive cost.
If you're running lots of 5-color or tri-lands in your Cube, by all means at least test Wanderer though. He's pretty cool and powerful for a simple stat-ball.

If you don't run Pod go Wanderer, if you do I'd say Vorapede. Undying is cool but I like the Wanderer a little more in isolation.

Here's one. This is kind of a different-rules fight than usual though.
If you had a Cube where you wanted bombs but not Wurmcoil-level bombs, which of these walkers would you run, if any, and in what order?

I don't mind Elspeth, Sun's Champion. I pretty much hate the other two. Sun's Champion is certainly a worth going up to six mana for, but spitting 1/1s or being unreliable removal isn't always what you need. Clearly she wins the game if uncontested and trumps a lot of the other 6 drops with her -3, but she's actually a slower kill then basically all of them and being a planeswalker can be a disadvantage..

In order of how much I think they'd bring to an environment: Big Elspeth, Good Elspeth, Gideon
Gideon is v. powerful and enables control strats a little more but mostly he's just a huge pile of loyalty that holds off combat for a few turns until he swings for lethal. Sounds appealing, I know, but he's frustrating to play against. Good Elspeth is an awesome card, ostensibly beatable but certainly a beating. It feels so good to tick her up every turn though! Big Elspeth is kinda like a control insurance card, she does everything and costing six is worth it. Her ultimate is a real possibility, too, which is always nice.

I currently run both Gideon Jura and Elspeth, Sun's Champion. If I had to do it over again and could only take one, I really like Gideon "Get Some" Jura, and I think he is probably the most interesting option. I do like how dramatic the E-Dawg is, for sure, but this kind of boils down to a "dramatic" vs "most interesting" question to me, and I'm inclined to favour the interesting card in all matters. I don't think they're too far apart on power level because G-Daddy can really be a beast with little work, but obviously Elly's brood is pretty pushed making 3 chumperoonies and her -ability can be a real GG effect, board depending.

Knight-Errant scares me a lot and as much as I love that alt duel deck art I dunno that I'll ever actually cave and run her. If I did, it would only be as a replacement for Citadel Siege, which may even be better than Knightspeth.

Did you just type this up to throw out as many nicknames for these cards at us as possible? :p

I never ran good Elspeth. I cut both Gideon Jura and big Elspeth for being unhealthy for my cube (imo). Gideon was a way worse offender than Elspeth though. Games just grind to a halt whenever Gideon hits the table, and he's way more of a death knell to attacking strategies than big Elspeth.

I swap the two of them in and out of the cube, I'm a fan of Big Elspeth and OG Gideon. They both do a ton of work in games. Prefer Gideon because he's so flavorful and the art is dope. And I have a foil from ROE so yeah.

I honestly don't mind either because there are more than enough answers in my cube to deal with troublesome permanents and you can't just take a whole turn to resolve one of these guys at times. My burn and aggro game too strong son.

Gideon is the only one I run, and I don't think I can ever cut him because I like the card too much. I'm almost positive he's bad for my format for all the reasons mentioned above.

Should I be ashamed to propose Elspeth Tirel? She's definitely on the safe side of avoiding Wurmcoil-level bombs. She'll never be oppressive and I still think she's worth playing.

If not, then I'd play Sun's Champion > Gideon > Knight-Errant... I think.

Here's a new fight scenario for you.
Your black section has room for one six-drop (delve cards don't count). You don't want to run Grave Titan because you don't roll that way. You want your six-drop to be a nifty reanimation target, but also a good stabilizer for control decks.
You are currently considering the following three cards:

Which do you pick? Or, do you choose a different six-drop?
